Attorney General Illegal Posting Update?

#1

Post by RicoTX »

Does anyone have any real knowledge of the AG sending a warning letter to a city illegally posting 30.06 signs? I have more than a few to report, but it seems pointless if nothing is going to happen. I still like how we as citizens have to obey any law immediately after it takes effect , but they get numerous chances to claim they are not even breaking the law.

the AG hasn't done a thing, not a peep, the AG's office is just ignoring us because they don't have to do anything and no one can make them so they don't, just throw the complaints in the circular file along with the coffee grounds and candy wrappers

I have received a copy of the letter that the AG's office sent to Harris County in response to my complaint about the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. The letter states that the Office of the Attorney General has received a complaint & will be investigating. The county has 10 days to submit any relevant information in response.

Is it working like we thought it would? Not exactly. But if you have something to report, do so! Having reports on file that OAG has done nothing about will help us next session and beyond.

Thanks! At least something is happening!

Although not statutorily required, the Texas Firearms Coalition website has some forms that are easy to use:

https://www.texasfirearmscoalition.com/ ... aint-forms

Remember, the process is to first notify the offending entity. Wait 3 business days for a response. If the signs are still up after 3 business days, file with the OAG. Here's the link to the OAG online filing page

Could you post a copy of the letter, please.

What I've posted is essentially what is in the letter. The county has 10 days to respond and/or provide relevant information.

Laws aren't worth the paper their written on if not enforced.

I continue to beat on the drum of: If he would make one "BIG" example of one of those entities that blatantly ignore the gun signage laws, it would go a long way to motivate the other offenders to get with the program.

He's had plenty of time at this point to do something.

He's foot dragging.

Add to the law: the AG shall respond to all complaints of improper signs by contacting the offending political subdivision within 30 days of receiving a formal complaint.

Waiting from 9/1 until last week to send out letters is male cow dung.

It is considered poor form to diss another governmental entity like that, unlike private citizens who can be counted on to be treacherous, devious, untrustworthy, unworthy of courteous treatment. Government agencies must work together, cooperate, be team players, treated with respect, presuming regularity and all good things about their activities.

You don't hear of no knock warrants executed on a government office, do ya?

The AG's Office IS doing their job on this. It's just not as fast as we here would like. Apparently several people have gotten letters from the AG that were sent to the offending cities (Fort Worth in my complaint about the Fort Worth Zoo). If they are doing their job, how many cities or counties have been fined for not removing illegal signs?
Do we even know if the AG has followed up once they send a letter to a city or county, or if it just stops there?

:iagree:

And that right there is all you really need to know. If the AG was doing his job, signs would be coming down, fines would be assessed, etc. All it will take is one round of fines, and then all the municipalities playing games will rethink their positions.
