Why does Taco Cabana/Katy Mills have the 30.06
Why do these companies have 30.06 on their businesses? Katy Mills Mall and Taco Cabana restaruants.
Are they making a political statement? Who owns them? Are owners known liberals? What's the story?

Because they don't want you to carry a gun in there. PeriodDoug.38PR wrote:Why do these companies have 30.06 on their businesses? Katy Mills Mall and Taco Cabana restaruants.
You would have to ask them, but I doubt it.Are they making a political statement?
Who knows, who cares? If you don't want to ever go anywhere without your handgun, then shop and eat elsewhere. Are owners known liberals? What's the story?

I know that. The question is, why don't they want me to carry a gun there?Because they don't want you to carry a gun in there. Period
Well judging from their responses to letters posted on another thread in this same forum, I wouldn't expect them to be entirely forthcoming in a letter to me except to say: "We don't believe this to be in our customer's best interest and safety. Taco/Mills is a place for families. bull bull bull bull bull....a little more bull bull bull....thank you for your interest and I'm sorry if this affects your using our business"You would have to ask them, but I doubt it.
Well, letseee, 1) I care, 2) txinvestigator cares: http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_F ... php?t=6888 3) as to a whole lot of other people as demonstrated in that same double digit paged thread. The fact that they are needlessly refusing to allow me (and others) the RTKBA on their property (including peace officers) by going out of their way to put up a large and noticable sign that the law requires them to have in order to accompish this isn't an accident. What's the story?Who knows, who cares? If you don't want to ever go anywhere without your handgun, then shop and eat elsewhere.
I do shop and eat elsewhere. Everyone on this board says this and does this. I never go to Katy Mills Mall or Taco Cabana. That is not the point of this thread.
I say again:

Why did you get a CHL and carry a handgun? Because under TX law it is your right to do so. Same goes for the owners of any business, they have the right under TX law to keep concealed handguns off of their property. It is their right to do so.Doug.38PR wrote:I know that. Well I don't think i've answered this thread but when previous people said it, it didn't seem to stick so: They do that because they don't want you to carry your gun on their premises. You'd have to ask them to go into any more detail.Doug.38PR wrote:I'm not talking about their right to do so under the law.....I'm talking about why would they want to do so?

No, you don't have a RTKBA on THIER property, sorry. And that does nothing to keep Peace Officers out.Doug.38PR wrote:I know that. The question is, why don't they want me to carry a gun there?Because they don't want you to carry a gun in there. Period

Asked and answered. Why do these companies have 30.06 on their businesses?
If you want to know WHY they don't want you to carry; the answer, I imagine, could be any number of reasons.

There have been numerous instances posted here of previously posted Taco Cabana's that are no longer posted.
They may have realized that their signage was non-compliant or they might actually be getting the message.
A less likely possibility is that they are leaving it to the discretion of the manager, which might account for some being posted and some not.

Mike,
are you saying that some Taco Cabanas no longer have 30.06 postings?
Okay, poor choice of words. Let me rephrase. Why do they want me defenseless on their property? Why do they want me to not be able to defend myself on their property? What do they have against guns on their property? No, you don't have a RTKBA on THIER property, sorry. And that does nothing to keep Peace Officers out.

It is? All I've basically heard is "I don't know. Because they said so." And if you, or the others who have responded, don't know...that's fine. I don't know. I can guess (as can y'all). But I don't want to guess. I want to know what their agenda is. That's why I am still asking.Asked and answered

Some business owners post the 30.06 signs because their corporate attorneys can't help but shriek about the liability issues of allowing law-abiding, responsible adults with proper licenses to carry concealed guns on said properties.
Others post the signs because they are anti-gun and would HATE to think that law-abiding, responsible adults with proper licenses were carrying those evil, harmful GUNS (gasp!) on their properties.
Those are pretty much the only reasons that I can think of.
Regardless: it's the establishment owner's right to post them. And it's my right to take my money elsewhere. I hate malls anyway, so that's not a big loss. And Taco Cabana's not the only place in Texas to get good pseudo-Mexican food. :)

Exactly. I've been back into TC's that once had their pathetic 8 1/2"x11" attempt at a 30.06 posting only to find no posting at all.Doug.38PR wrote:Mike,

If you read all of the TC threads here, I'm pretty sure I remember reading other instances of them not posting.
