I don't understand. If a bank is prone to hold ups then why would they want to endanger their law abiding customers lives by restricting them from protecting themselves against being murdered? I would never bank anywhere that doesn't understand the difference between an innocent person carrying a gun to save their own life and a criminal using a gun to harm others. Do they not understand the requirements and background checks we have to go thru in order to get a license to carry? Do they not understand that people have carried in every branch they have, just by the odds, and those good people never robbed the bank or harmed any person? I would point them here http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administra ... sindex.htm as well as this very site to further their understanding on just who they are restricting with those signs. And let's face it, those signs only restrict the most law abiding and financially stable of our state. The criminals that have harassed that business did not obey the law and they certainly did not pay any mind to signs already posted. I am sure these new signs will do nothing more than encourage a criminal smart enough to know the law to choose that bank for their criminal activity.

I would write, paper and pen, the branch and the head of the bank. In fact, I did when my bank posted a non-compliant sign. I also had a letter to the editor published. I went in later to close my accounts and remind them why but the good people at the bank had apparently had time to review the law and understand that a CHL holder in a bank is a good thing. Not to stop a robbery necessarily. That is what insurance is for. But, not all robbers only want money. Some want to kill innocent people and that is where the CHL holder is valuable. They understand we don't want to shoot anybody because I told them. However, if it will save someone’s life, we will do what we are forced to do to stop that from happening.

When I wrote the bank I pointed out something they may not have known. That is that we are the grandmother and college kid and the grocer and even the preacher. They never saw us as armed but we have been there as long as it has been legal to carry and we never once did anything against the bank. I like my bank and even recommend it to anyone who is looking for a bank. It just took time and my effort for them to understand that I and my CHL friends are not the problem.

Well I closed my account on Tuesday afternoon and the branch manager called me Thursday and asked why I closed my account, I told his that if he didn't trust me with a gun in his or any of there banks then it doesn't need my money so I found a small town bank that offers better service, and is owned by the past president of the local gun range and is life member of TSRA and NRA. I spoke with him and he tells me that CHL's are welcome anytime in any of the branches. there are only 4 but I feel better banking at a place that is gun friendly and welcomes you by calling you by your first name.

Its good to see banks that trust there customers, and is not making it a Gun Free Zone.

I received an email from the branch President. She is researching it. I would post their reply but all the confidentality statements at the bottom of the email, I won't at this time...She does claim that the 30.06 sign has been there for years..I differ with that...the ghostbuster sign has been there for years but not the proper 30.06 sign with 4 pieces of scotch tape. Actually the time frame of when the sign was posted is irrelevant. Doesn't matter if it has been there for 10 years, 10 months, 10 weeks, 10 days, 10 hours or 10 minutes...It is there NOW.

Those confidentiality things are totally worthless. But I'll wait because if you got one then I will probably get one with the same notices as well.

his reply was that this was a company wide policy, that he didn't think was need in a small town but its company policy and he will follow it .

on a personal note he stated that he was a CHL holder and thought it was not right to baned good folks from carrying .

I found a great bank and just got back from there, the VP and myself had a good lunch and talked about differant guns and holsters we both tried.

Sounds like you should share the name and location of said bank for others.

A little off topic, but I use a huge bank - Washington Mutual. Not the best and definitely not a "small town" type bank, but if you open a regular savings account on-line, you get about 5% interest with no minimum balance. Better than most CD's. I never go to the branch anyway, except to deposit checks every once in a while.

We've had good luck with Capital One Bank. No signs at all about firearms (they even took down the previous non-30.06 signs, from when it was Hibernia National Bank).
