30.06 and the not so 30.06??

#1

Post by doghouse »

Well I'm sure it has been discussed and I bet I get a pretty quick answer. I was walking into the only mall here in B/CS and saw a sign posted on the entrance that pretty much read something like this:

The unlicensed carrying of a weapon on the premises is prohibited....too early to remember the rest but i did not see the 30.06 posting. I've seen this in other places of business and wondered ...This is not the same posting as 30.06 or is it? I am assuming unlicensed means not a CHL and not just LEO? Please correct me if I am mistaken but can I carry in the areas where this is posted?

That kind of sign does not apply to CHls.

What you probably saw was a sign required by the TABC for establishments licensed to sell alcoholic beverages for off-premise consumption or establishments licensed to sell for on-premises consumption whose alcohol sales are 50% or less of total gross receipts. They are required to post a sign that warns that the unlicensed possession of a concealed weapon is a felony. The holder of a concealed handgun license may lawfully possess a concealed handgun on these premises.

I think you answered your own question.

I too have looked all over Post Oak Mall. No 30.06 sign that I saw. I carry in there whenever I go in. After the Omaha shooting, why wouldn't you?
