I don't care about who's property is where. Shooting one's neighbors' pets is not a nice thing to do. I wouldn't want anyone who would do that as a neighbor. Unless the pet is posing a genuine physical threat of some sort, I would advise anyone to find some alternative (non-lethal, non-harmful) means of dealing with the situation.

Finally, dogs and cats are different. Dogs are emuch more easily controlled. In many cases, the law requires it. They are also (some breeds) much more likely or capable of posing a physical threat.

Cats are almost impossible to confine unless kept strictly indoors. Cats are also much less likely and/or capable of posing any sort of physical threat.

Shooting or (as I have heard that some people do) poisioning someone's pet is a very hostile thing to do, and frequently leads to trouble. Unless you want to read about yourself in the paper, I wouldn't advise doing it.

You are right. Austin has more in the way of area beauty (hop and skip from my favorite hill country locales), character, fun, and history for a big TX town. When I almost moved there as a student, 25,000 female students...big sell. That being said...over-inflated real estate, traffic often worse then houston, saturated work force cheap from college, no jobs, intern level pay, obscene liberalism, silicon hills evacuation, etc..

It's a fine balance between living in a fun town and living with all the libs in this town. They're downright venomous sometimes...

I've contacted an attorney today and he had a good laugh at the whole situation. Directed at her, not me...

He calmed me down quite a bit and told me that I already have plenty of ammo (no pun intended) on my side. Two visits by cops and now a Criminal Trespass Warrant. He said if anything she's got ever makes it to court, he'd be very surprised. He did say that he would gladly take the case. Then again, what lawyer wouldn't take a case that would be an easy win?

BTW - City of Austin does have an ordinance on the books that states:

§ 3-2-1 RUNNING AT LARGE PROHIBITED.

Except as specifically provided in this title, an owner or handler may not allow livestock, fowl, a dog, or other domestic or dangerous animal or reptile to run at large.

Generally agree. I'm not too worried about cats, but if a 100# pit bull comes on my property, I will not hesitate to defend myself. Recall that last month a pit mauled my neighbor half mile away, and is a cousin to Chas. I've heard from neighbors she is much better, maybe Chas will update us.

The best solution is a pellet rifle or a .22. People need to keep their property on their property. What is so difficult to understand?
