Contrary to the American ways ...
But .... maybe the first quote below might open Obama's eyes to the fact that citizens can stop some goblins ...
"an Israeli civilian shot and killed the attacker"
"policeman who rushed to the scene also shot the driver"
"After a few shots, I saw the driver shake and fall, and then he didn't move any more."
After the Jerusalem police chief Ilan Franco said a border police officer arrived and shot at the driver "to make sure he was killed."

Palestinian in construction truck rams cars
By LAURIE COPANS, Associated Press Writer 2 hours, 25 minutes ago
JERUSALEM - A Palestinian rammed a construction truck into three cars and a bus near the Jerusalem hotel where Barack Obama is supposed to stay Tuesday, injuring four people before an Israeli civilian shot and killed the attacker, police and witnesses said.
The attack was a chilling copycat of a similar incident earlier this month when another Palestinian plowed his front loader into a string of vehicles and pedestrians on a busy Jerusalem street about three miles away. Three people were killed in that attack and dozens were wounded before an off-duty soldier shot and killed the assailant.
Both Palestinians were from east Jerusalem, which was captured by Israel in 1967 along with the West Bank. The 208,000 Palestinians who live there are not Israeli citizens but carry Israeli ID cards that allow them freedom of movement throughout Israel, unlike West Bank Palestinians.
Police said in the latest attack, a civilian driving nearby saw what was happening, jumped out of the car and shot the driver. A border policeman who rushed to the scene also shot the driver. Police sealed off possible escape routes into predominantly Arab east Jerusalem and were searching for two suspects who fled, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.
The attacker struck a busy part of downtown Jerusalem, several hundred yards from the luxury King David hotel where Obama is scheduled to stay. The incident took place about seven hours before Obama was to arrive in Israel.
"I was driving on the main road when the (vehicle) hit me in the rear on the right hand side," the bus driver, who was not identified, told Channel 10 TV. "After I passed him, he turned around, made a U-turn and rammed the windows twice with the shovel. The third time he aimed for my head, he came up to my window and I swerved to the right, otherwise I would have gone to meet my maker."
Like the perpetrator of the previous attack, the driver in Tuesday's incident was a Palestinian from east Jerusalem with an Israeli residence permit and he drove the same type of front loader, police said. Israeli police called it a "terror attack" but no group immediately claimed responsibility.
Witness Moshe Shimshi said the Palestinian driver, who was wearing a large, white skullcap commonly worn by religious Muslims, slammed into the side of the bus, then sped away and went for a car.
"He didn't yell anything, he just kept ramming into cars," Shimshi said.
Shimshi said he saw a man run toward the construction vehicle firing a pistol.
"After a few shots, I saw the driver shake and fall, and then he didn't move any more."
After the Jerusalem police chief Ilan Franco said a border police officer arrived and shot at the driver "to make sure he was killed." In the attack earlier this month, the driver of the construction vehicle was shot and presumed dead — only to revive and carry on with his attack before being shot dead.
Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski was in the area when he heard a commotion and rushed over.
The attacker "is from east Jerusalem," he said. "They keep on inventing ways to attack us," he said. "Every work tool has become a weapon."
The three latest attacks in Jerusalem have been carried out by Palestinians from the eastern sector of the city's eastern sector, where they make up less than a third of the city's population. Many east Jerusalem Palestinians work in construction in the Jewish parts of the city.

Haha, good luck trying to get Obama to think that the citizens need guns. He doesn't want us to have them because he's afraid of "people that cling to guns and religion"
IF he gets elected, you can bet that he won't be making many stops in the rural parts of the country, he'll go to places, Like Chicago, San Fran, ect that are "gun safe"

Oh nooooooooo!
Now we have proof that the only solution to terrorism is to ban every "work tool".
I see "reasonable restrictions" on purchasing tractors in our near future. I also noticed that ABC network news called the front end loader a "bulldozer". I guess that would have more sinister images since it is a tracked vehicle and not simply a heavy duty farm tractor.
Ya just gotta love it.

Re: Contrary to the American ways ...
In my view, there simply is no untouchable constitutional right guaranteed by the Second Amendment to keep loaded handguns in the house..." --
Justice Breyer, Dissenting opinion rendered in DC gun case, June 2008
In a 5-4 decision, Justices Breyer, Stevens, Souter and Ginsburg believe the above statement and stated such in their dissenting opinion in the DC gun case. It is not an individual right and you have no right to self-defense within your home if the government says so. Five Justices say otherwise.
The next president will nominate one, possibly two supreme court Justices. One liberal confirmation will swing the balance making the Second Amendment the right of the government, not your right.
If a candidate was anti-gun in the past, they are anti-gun now and will be in the future, regardless of their campaign rhetoric. A liberal president will nominate anti-gun liberal justices like Breyer and Stevens to the court. That's a fact. Make your vote count this fall.

Gun-control advocates have a powerful new voice in the Senate who is seeking to close a loophole that allows weapons to be sold at gun shows without background checks.
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who cited cases in which suspected terrorists were caught with weapons bought at U.S. gun shows, says he will try to "force Senate consideration" early next year of the measure. Former President Clinton tried but failed to curb such sales. Hats off to the senator if he succeeds.
"Foreign terrorists have exploited a loophole to buy weapons at gun shows," McCain said. "Clearly, alleged members of terrorist organizations have been able to secure guns and weapons using the gun-show loophole."
The senator had introduced a similar bill in May, but he said he was submitting a new version now because the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks lent "some urgency to tightening the law."

Re: Contrary to the American ways ...
Got this today:
My Friends,
For the first time in our history, the Supreme Court affirmed that the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms was and is an individual's right as intended by our Founding Fathers. I applaud their decision. I have always believed the clear intent of our Founding Fathers was that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms.
I believe that the right of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms is a fundamental, individual Constitutional right that we have a sacred duty to protect. Gun control is a proven failure in fighting crime. Law abiding citizens should not be asked to give up their rights because of criminals - criminals who ignore gun control laws anyway.
Unfortunately my opponent, Senator Barack Obama, does not share our support for this fundamental right. Senator Obama has never been a friend to Second Amendment supporters. He has also said outright, that he "does not believe people should be able to own guns."
My friends, we cannot risk jeopardizing this fundamental right - a right that is just as sacred as our right to free speech and assembly. Will you support my campaign for president today by making an immediate donation of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500 or more? Your financial support is urgently needed. Senator Obama's campaign has shown the capacity to raise and spend over $500 million against me. This is money that will be spent attacking me and my defense of your basic rights.
And as important as the Supreme Court ruling is, it does not mark the end of our struggle against those who seek to limit the rights of law-abiding citizens, like Senator Barack Obama. That's why we must always remain vigilant in defense of our freedoms. So please support my campaign to become your next President by making a donation of any amount up to the legal limit of $2,300 today.
Sincerely,
John McCain
P.S. As your next president, you won't have to guess where I stand on the Second Amendment- I believe it is your fundamental right as a law abiding citizen to bear arms. My opponent, Senator Barack Obama does not. We cannot risk electing a President who does not share our belief in the Second Amendment. Please support my campaign right away by making a generous contribution of $25, $50, $100, $500, $1,000, or $2,300 today. Thank you.

Re: Contrary to the American ways ...
I suppose the constitution will have a lot to do with how a lot of us will vote in November. This is a gun group and all of understand the importance of the 2nd amendment. But if we really think about it with out the 1st amendment we won't have the 2nd for long.
McCain believes that a renewal of gun bans is a good thing. That the 1st amendment is only aplied to porn and Muslims, but posting political content should be restricted for 60 days before an election. His law would have made this discussion illegal after September except the Supreme court tossed it. I am not excited that he could be the one selecting the next SC justice. Can we keep out RKBA arms if we lose the 1st amendment.
The difference between McCain and Obama is that McCain has actually been effective in getting his hairbrained ideas enacted. Obama has never accomplished a thing in Washington and is proven to be ineffective. This actually might be a positive for Obama.
So we have a choice. A candidate that has a proven record and dislike of the freedom of the press and freedom of speech. A candidate that is liberal believes that believes that gun owners should be controlled while illegal aliens should be unrestricted.
there is Bob Barr....![Yawn :yawn](./images/smilies/Yawn.gif)

Hmmm... nominate anti-gun liberal justices like Breyer and Stevens and Souter? But I thought RINOs couldn't nominate anti-gun justices? Funny how that works... Just looked it up, btw, Stevens was also a republican appointment.ZARASTER wrote:In my view, there simply is no untouchable constitutional right guaranteed by the Second Amendment to keep loaded handguns in the house..." --

So we have a gun banner and a backdoor registration, banner of all private sales, both purveyors of "reasonable restrictions." Or perhaps I'm reading you wrong, maybe you're advocating taking a real stand for the 2A (and the rest of the constitution) by voting Libertarian or something?
Oh. Guess not.ZARASTER wrote:I am going with McCain
By the way, which conservative justice is it that is on the brink of retirement? Seems to me there are no young liberal justices but on the contrary the conservative half is quite young. Call me crazy, but I do kind of like the idea of a somewhat split court, if it is going to be filled with republicans and democrats and not defenders of the constitution. As Liberty said, once the 1A is gone (and don't think they will limit themselves to that, no, Bush has been making a full on assault to the 1A, 4A, and 5A and that's just what I remember at the moment) the 2A will swiftly follow.
On the original topic, I find it amusing how Michelle Obama can drive through a rural area and come to understand (according to her) how those people might need guns, but living in Chicago and seeing something like this happen close by in Jerusalem would not lead them to the same conclusion. Of course they might see that the registered, single-shot .22s that Obama might be inclined to allow in rural areas probably wouldn't be all that effective against terrorists or gang-bangers.
