CHL approved today

#1

Post by uncle dan »

Checked the DPS website just now and my status changed from "processing application" to "license approved." Took 71 days from reciept by them. Based on what I've read in this forum these last few months, I guess I should be glad it did not take longer. Now, we will see how long before it hits the mail box.

Glad you got it! Now be sure to wait a few more days until you have the hard copy before trying out your new freedom.

Roger that. Ironically, I was stopped by San Antonio PD on a traffic issue a few days ago. The officer listened to my explanation and wrote a warning. But as I waited for him to run my drivers license I wondered if it would come back from DPS with CHL holder that day. I was not carrying; but it would have led to more discussions and or suspicions by the officer who stopped me.

BTW, the officer was a true professional, firm but listened. He issued tickets to two other drivers and sent his partner to write me the warning. The partner said I was lucky; the officer who stopped me was not known for issuing warnings. I think there is a lot to be said for disagreeing with an officer in a most diplomatic tone.

I had something similar happen. Status had just changed online and I was pulled over for expired tags (long story including non-working vehicles and moving houses) but I knew the status had changed so I mentioned it to the officer as he arrived. Including that I was not carrying because I didn't have the hard copy yet. Warning for me as well.

Ditto the welcome Dan. Glad you joined us.

Hopefully, you'll have the plastic soon. Of course, it still has to get through the USPS.

:cheers2: It was a good choice! I have to agree with LT...it is hard to defend yourself with that license....carry the gun that goes with it! I am happy for you.
