Talking to the police
While reading a post by longtooth about why he carries 24/7, I came across this video on the same blog that he linked to. It's about why you should not talk to the police without your attorney present. http://www.regent.edu/admin/media/schlaw/LawPreview/ The funny thing is, my younger brother was just telling me this, and yes he is an attorney. Look I'm all for helping the police, but not at the cost of my own skin.
The video is a little long, but IMO, it's well worth the time.

Re: Talking to the police
I keep an attorney on call 24x7 for just such an occasion.

Re: Talking to the police
Covered in Charles' Deadly Force seminar two days ago. The choice is up to us, by I will go with what Charles stated, to give a brief statement about what happened. This will keep you from having to spend the night in jail. Keep in mind that many other videos are from other states where they are gun hating liberals. Here in Texas we have a little more liberty.
Re: Talking to the police
That statement better not be anything more than, "I was afraid for my life and was forced to fire my weapon hitting the intruder"

Re: Talking to the police
Lucky for me, I have a younger brother that's a lawyer, so I can call him 24/7. You can give them your basic info. such as name, address and etc. but you can also say "Officer I would be more than happy to answer any and all of your questions, but I wish to have my attorney present." You need to appear your willing to help at the same time your saving your own skin.

Re: Talking to the police
Nothing wrong with talking to police, except at this point in time, you are a suspect. Remember Miranda, anything you say can, and will, be held against you in a court of law. So to keep yourself out of a little 8x8 room, three squares a day & a bunky that's starting to like you, please consult your attorney ASAP & keep your talking to a minimum.

Is that legal advice?

Re: Talking to the police
You shoot somebody, be prepared to go to jail. It's part of the game. Every American ought to spend a minimum of 24 hours in jail. Things sure look different from in there. And afterwards.
Re: Talking to the police
This was a worthwhile thread and yet another example of the value that we get out of the shared knowledge and information on this forum.
I watched both videos in their entirety and am now much more knowledgeable about a subject that previously I thought I knew a lot about.
Any contact I may have with police, I know what I'll be saying - nothing.
