My wife works for a large public school district in Houston. We are both CHL holders. She went into her teacher's lounge at her elementary school last week and she found that a valid 30-06 sign was posted there.
I can only imagine that the district sent the sign to the school and the (DA) principal put it up in the lounge. I can imagine no other reason.
I guess this should go in the improper 30-06 posting thread but it is just too funny not to post
thanks

:smilelol5: :smilelol5: :smilelol5: Totally laughable if it were not so sadly ignorant of the law.

And these are the people teaching our kids? Yeah, I know it is a fairly specific thing, but still...

The hospital in Huntsville has old (pre-30.06) signs posted. Just outside the elevators. On the second floor! I didn't see it until I was leaving. Wouldn't have mattered anyway, since it referenced the old administrative code and not PC30.06 (and since I have not yet received my CHL, so I wasn't carrying).

At the School? When I took my CHL class in Jan, 5 of our group of 14 taught in the public shools. Not a group of teachers who knew each other..just five teachers from different parts of town. All said they wanted their CHL for personal protection. A little bit of irony there if you like that sort of thing.

You would think that educated people would at least inquire as to how and where it should be posted.

It sounds to me that someone, probably the principal, was informed that one or more of the teachers had acquired a CHL. It does speak to the ignorance of whoever posted the sign because any CHL holder already knows that schools are off limits, posted or not. I think this was a direct affront to those gun-toting, conservative radicals who carry guns.

This is why we need more taxes to be able to give more money for the school system :deadhorse:

My fiancee is terrified of getting her CHL for just this reason. She's afraid that her school district will "find out" and fire her out of some percieved threat. Considering how crazy public schools are, I can't say I blame her. I still want her to get a CHL though, but i'm fighting an uphill battle.

Nitrogen,
My wife teaches also and is reluctant to get her CHL, but she has not stated that as a reason. She still does not clearly see the need yet and she's afraid she'll FAIL the CHL test. :smilelol5:

Tell her the test were designed for her to be able to pass them.
