Would a bore brush be OK?

Anyone know if having a bore brush for a quick pass through the cylinders on a revolver is ok during qualifying?
Sometimes the cylinders get sticky before finishing off 50 rounds, and a quick pass through the sticky cylinders with the brush will fix it.

I vaguely remember someone saying they used one, or needed one.

My opinion only - but - why not qualify with a semi-auto so you can carry either a revolver or pistol? Also, if the cylinder is getting gunked before you run 50 rounds thru - you need cleaner ammo.

I already have my CHL.
When one goes for an instructor certificate, semi and revolver shooting are necessary.
I might should have asked in that folder, but thought i might get more answers in this discussion.

I thought about WinClean ammo, but it has caused probs in the epast with the primers coming out, in my 581 S&W 357.

Do you usually shoot FMJ out of your revolvers? I agree that at times it is necessary to scrub a little of the junk off of them while shooting, but I generally only have this problem when I go beyond 200 rounds. I don't know how many rounds you guys have to shoot to qualify for instructor. I put a couple of hundred rounds of WWB .38 special through my model 10 last weekend and did not have any problems and that is pretty nasty stuff. That particular revolver is picky about ammo and will not tolerate anything with a high primer...I generally shoot reloads, but that old gun is moody. Good luck!

What kind of revolver are you using? I have used revolvers for several hunderd rounds with no problems.

If you are referring to the empty cases sticking....using the ejector and you fingers to pull the case out should work fine. I don't think Sgt Ripp is going to let you do the brush thing during qualifications.

Yes it was sticking cases. I worked with the cylinders with some lapping compound. Cleaned them and they work fne. Just had to get them all coming out at once. If one or two fall out then the remaining will bind and hang a little.
These are low end, Comanche IIs. Accurate, solid, cheap. Need to grease the extractor, rather than oil it.
