Right. I said verbal earlier.

If you disobey verbal, it is basically trespassing because you are there against their will.

Anyways, we can sit here and bicker about this all day but the bottom line is we all need to read our laws a bit more. Myself included.

If you disobey verbal/written notification (as long as written complies w/ 30.06) it is not "Basically trespassing" it is Criminal Trespass by CHL and is a big difference then trespassing. No LEO is going to cite you for simply ignoring a gunbuster sign. If you ignore the manager who asks you to leave because you are carrying, or ignore the LEO who was called and told you couldnt be there and had to disarm or leave, well I feel for you because there is a big difference in a Class A and C misdemeanor (one is CHL disqualifying and costly both in the pocket and freedom areas)

I agree, people should educate themselves whenever they take on a huge responsibiliy like carrying a firearm and if you dont understand something or have questions - because lets be honest -- some of that stuff is more confusing than a little bit - ask someone who knows, or knows who does.

As for this topic, you and I are on two different levels, we must agree to disagree. I wish you well LCP_Dogg and if you are going to be in or around San Antonio towards the middle of February I am trying to get a group together for a Range Day and I would like to extend to you a personal invitation. (See Day of Shooting in Gun, Shooting and Discussion sub forum)

Your best bet is to read them again and again and again until you memorize them (I'm clearly guilty of not doing this myself) and then re-read them every now and again to refresh and get any changes, because they do get changed w/out notice.
"Rules" don't get changed, laws do. And they never get changed without notice; it takes a long fight during the legislative term once every two years. Anyone who keeps up to date on CHL issues can easily be aware of changes in the law. Glancing at the subject lines of this forum once a month is sufficient.

What amazes me is not that people who haven't had a renewal class aren't aware of changes made in 2006, but that some people --both students and instructors-- still aren't aware of changes made in 1998!

Anyways, I was just trying to say people should be reading through these laws not answering and then saying "or maybe I'm wrong" which is just likely to mislead more readers on this kind of forum.

Might I suggest this link:

I personally find it very useul.

well, i carried, i was the one not drinking. uneventful, other than drunks dancing all over me, now im on the outside looking in. it's good to be able to carry there, there is usually a long walk to and from your cars at small carnivals like that with plenty of primed people. made it home safely and then :cheers2: as the wife passed out!

ps i'll tell ya, watch out for the carnival that passed through yorktown last weekend, one kid got hospitalized from the zipper ride, and another 6yo girl had a ride accident, ems rushed her off and stopped the band to announce the emergency and locate her parents, i heard later she was paralyzed from her injuries. i hope i'm wrong, kinda scary, my 5yo hit all them rides just before then.

pss thanks to all who helped in this post.

Glad you had a great time and were able to avoid any big bad 30.06 monsters. Some carnival rides scare me, I hope everyone ends up alright in the end. Would be unfortunate to be paralyzed at such a young age.

Nice that you were able to avoid getting outted with such dancing. Good Job!!
