Car Carry?

I just got my license this week and I'm looking for ideas for keeping my handgun in my truck. Do you guys have any suggestions? I know I could have researched this as I waited my 74 days to get the license but I just kinda procrastinated . I don't have an actual carry holster yet either but I gotta get some cash before I can order. I'm fairly certain that I'm going to get a Milt Sparks VM2. Anyways, thanks for the help.

I use one of the same safes recommened by Stevie. I actually bought one for my car and one for the wifes.......if you buy two they are keyed alike. I tried to find the link but could not...great product!

I found some small safe like boxes at Gander Mountain that could be bolted down under a seat... Door is push button and folds down from the side. They were only $29.... I got one for the side of the bed in my room... When I go back im getting one for the truck.

Those definitely look like nice gunsafes, but that's not what I meant. I don't plan on needing to lock up my gun inside my car (although thinking about it I may need a safe for going to places where chl is not allowed). What I'm looking for is some kind of holster that can be concealed yet give me ready access to the handgun if I need it. Myabe something that hangs between the door and seat or under the dash or something.

Ah..

I use a removable padded handgun bag which came out of a large range bag. Its about 12 inches wide by 14 inches tall. It fits quite nicely between my console and seat. Very easily accessed and out of sight.

I just end up shoving my C-tac down between the seats for long (1hr+) trips.

Any decent hard holster I bet would work for this.

Thanks for the suggestions. The grassburr website has some neat stuff. If I didn't have a truck with bench seat I could just do what nitrogen suggests, but the bench seat is the kicker here.

Do you have a little shelf in your door? You might be able to take a kydex holster, drill a hole in it and the door shelf, and lash the holster inside the shelf.

http://www.desantisholster.com/n92.html This is a holster that hangs off the front of your car seat, between your legs. Does this conceal effectively? The answer you hear may depend upon who you ask or whether or not they would like to see you in jail.

http://thewilderness.com Look for the "Safepacker" to use as a seatbelt-mounted holster. It definitely meets the requirement of keeping the gun concealed, yet it is rapidly accessible by releasing the buckle and opening the flap. I use this regularly, both as a vehicle holster and a tote for taking handguns to the range. (It is readily apparent which way the muzzle is pointing.)

You could try some type of shoulder crossdraw holster. But depending on the orientation of the seatbelt and the hand used to access the gun, your draw could be snarled.
