Renewal coming up - Houston
Has any body taken a renwal at Top Gun? In the next few months I will need to take a renwal class and not sure where to go yet. Right now Top Gun is the closest to me.
I took my orginal class at Texas Shooters Range, but not sure if they are still around or not. Website and numbers I have do not work for them any more.
I'm open for suggestions on where to go as I have a few months to figure it all all. I am pretty central in Houston, so I can go just around any where.
Thanks!
Seth

I just saw the PSC schedule...
They have a class for new licenses this next weekend...
I don't know if they'll do a renewal...I don't see why they wouldn't, if you ask real nicely...
David Swan is giving the class...
The details are in a word document linked to a post in the "Ranges" portion of the website here...
I hope that works out for you...

Preference is given to members, but as long as there is room in the class, non-members can attend. I don't know if there is a difference in the fee, but I don't believe so.Blazen wrote:Thanks. I still have a few months before I can even do this, but I will keep PSC in mind. Do you have to be a member to take/renew classes there?

I did my last renewal at Top Gun and it went fine - instructor was good - but they made us buy "no-lead" ammo there; regular white box Winchester was not "clean" enough, let alone reloads.
The place has changed hands since then and I don't know the new owners. Got a postcard from them - might need to stop by if I ever get into the city again.
Regards,
Andrew

I actually take the cheapest "ball" ammo I can find to a renewal...
If I come across Mr T's stuff you see mostly at the local gunshows around here, and its close to renewal time, I'll grab a box...Its either that or PMC...
I have never had a problem with either through any firearm I own...zero...
I know (to some) it may be a fashion "faux pau" not to shoot a qualifier course of fire with a load you don't carry on the street...
But the stuff I carry on the street is expensive, about $2 a pop...So I'd rather use that stuff for the real deal...

Probably every range in town has instructors.
Also 'near' Top Gun:
Bailey's House of Guns (5 minutes South of the Astro Dome)
Hot Wells Range (On US 290 about 20 minutes from the loop.)
