Goofed on "race" part of my fingerprint form

#1

Post by huntnetime »

When I filled out the two finger print forms the other night for my CHL packet, I put a "c" for caucasian in the "race" field. The fingerprinter told I should have put a "W" for "white" in there. I asked him if I should fill out a new one and he said no, it should be okay if I just try to fill it in with a "w"...well, after trying to fill it in and look good, it didn't look so good. Not real legible. Everything else on the card looks perfect. He didn't think it would be a problem. What do you guys think? I did the fingerprinting friday night and will be taking my actual course this coming Saturday. Do you think I should ask him to do it over again? I just don't want there to be any question when this stuf goes off to DPS. Thanks for putting up with my ramblings.

Uh-oh...what did I get myself into? I guess my question won't be taken too seriously? I've just heard horror stories about issuance being delayed because of some dumb technicality. I don't want to be one of those people. That's why I'm asking. :banghead:

Oh...and thanks for the welcome...I think...

you might be best off to pay the 10 bucks (or whatever) and re-do ... and pay attention to detail...it counts.... and it goes on your "permanent record" (I always wanted to tell someone that)

I think you'll be fine. If you encounter any hold ups just answer them and proceed.

Would there be any problems using liquid paper?

My instructor white-outted a lot of stuff for various people in my class. I never heard of anyone having trouble.

If you use white out in the race field, isn't that sufficient? :biggrinjester:

Seriously, shouldn't your photo kinda' give a clue as to your ancestry? If there's any question in your mind, have a do over using F.A.S.T. prints. You'll rest better.

Welcome to the forum. Whiteout was not an issue when used to correct the address for the range I qualified at. :tiphat:

I am very confused now. I always thought white folks were a genetic condition called albinoism. Didn't know it was a race. Almost every Caucasion I ever met was some sort of tan red and pink but definatly not white except for within the eyeballs. I've seen gray people but they were pretty dead. Is there really such a thing as a 'W' or White race?

Now you know why I couldn't address the question earlier. Who wants to be "white"?

White out is fine....I've seen many use it with success. I would not be overly worried about DPS not processing the application. If a question arises, they will ask. Not a big deal.

I have white cows, black cows, red cows and tan cows. I don't call them different "races" of cows; that would be ridiculous. Similarly, people of different color aren't different races, they just have differing amounts of melanin which changes the color of their skin. We're all the same species, after all. Sigh.

Huntnetime: Just send in the 'corrected' form. The examiner signed it - it should be acceptable. If DPS sends it back, no biggie, just contact your examiner and have new ones done. AND, don't get put off by these guys, they are just looking for any excuse to razz somebody or create a running joke... :biggrinjester:
