A Few Questions.

#1

Post by Buhay_XD »

Did my initial class last weekend and had a few questions.

1. The officer who did our finger printing also signed the back of our passport photos. Was this wrong? Will it get kicked back?

2. Became a citizen in 2007. What and were do I put my (former) alien number on the application? And do I just make a copy of my passport front page (the one with photo)?

3. I still live at parent's home, but I have a place north of Denton. Do I need to list every address I've ever lived at or will the folk's home be enough?

Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the Forum! :tiphat:

It is hard for me to understand why you would not ask these questions to your Instructor as it is part of the paperwork that you paid him to help you with. :???:

Unfortunately, I cannot help you, but hopefully someone will come along and try to answer your questions. :txflag:

#1 & #3 didn't cross my mind til I read the checklist.

I asked about #2 and he wasn't quite sure as he hadn't come across the situation. He told me to call DPS (and will barring no can help me).

Maybe because he didn't think of those questions at the time, and they came up as a result of further research after he left the class? Give him a break...the process is way over-complicated with bureaucratic nonsense like one photo having to be signed but not the other, card has to be folded just so, blah, blah, blah.

The answer to #1 is: Yes, he was supposed to sign the back of your picture. It verifies that he verified it was a picture of you.

The fingerprinter signs your photos, and so do you.

You don't need to put your alien number on the application, but you need to include documentation to prove your USA citizenship. A US passport works.

You need to list every place you have lived for the past 5 years.

You already are! You went through the time and effort of becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen. Congratulations. And welcome to the Forum and to the world of CHL. ;-)

Didn't you get a naturalization certificate when you became a Citizen? I too am a naturalized citizen (since '95) and my app got kicked back because I didn't include a copy of my passport or my naturalization certificate. I ended up sending a copy of that AND my passport, but I think a copy of your passport will suffice. I don't think there's a need for your old alien number since you're not longer a resident alien.

And about your address, I'd rather give them extra info than not enough. I got dinged on that too because I was two months short listing all of my addresses for the last 5 years. What address does your license list? Parent's house or your own place? Or maybe what I should ask is has your license ever listed that place as your address? I figure that just because you own a place doesn't necessarily mean you've lived there (for example a rental property or something), but if you've ever officially called that place your residence I'd list it! Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. I'll make sure to include a photocopy of both my passport and certificate.

And I went ahead and listed all the places that I've lived at that has my name on the lease. Figured better to be safe than sorry.
