An about face in Congress on the National Park Bill

#1

Post by BigBlueDodge »

I was browsing MSNBC tonight and found this article

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30832809/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Seems like there has been a sudden "about face" in Congress on the bill to allow concealed carry firearms in the National Parks. An amednment was stuck on the Credit Card reform to allow this and was easily passed. This could be voted in by the end of this week!! The article hits on something that I've been reading about, in that Congress right now is very "pro-gun ownership". This is why Obama is not pushing the Assault Weapons Ban because he doesn't have enough votes in Congress to push it through because of the pro-gun feeling in Congress. And now this article seems to reinforce it.

I'm not sure what happend but I got a feeling that it started with N.R.A :)

It passed the senate BUT has it passed the Pelosi controlled house?

I am fairly confident it will pass the house. If not, it will probably get put back in by the conference committee. The Senate seems to be pretty set on the idea and it could be a deal killer on the credit card bill that the house really wants. Smart politics on the part of some senators.

Or just an effort to say "silly judge, procedural wrangling is for legislatures only."

The Democratic controlled house is mostly not going to have the stomach to fight this one for the national parks bill. The reps who are real mushy about RKBFA will gladly sign on to get the Marxist agenda of the rest of the bill. The NP bill is still seen as mostly benign anyway. Passing this while fighting for a new AWB might give some credence to the argument they are just being reasonable.

Obama will sign this in a minute , the Marxist agenda is far more important to him than allowing a few CHLers on our National parks. While I will certainly enjoy carrying at South Padre this year. Capitalist will see this bill as loss and the Marxist a win.

I hope this ploy fails but I heard on the radio news (just caught the tail end of it) this morning something about separating that national park gun vote from the credit card vote. Did not hear who is trying to do this but the way I understood this , although the gun bill was attached to the credit card bill, this individual wants to give the senators the option to vote for the two separately instead of just voting for the one bill (credit card). Seems like they always have something up their sleeve.

The senate has passed the bill. It is in Pelosi's house now.

You've got to love this line from the article:

"Families should not have to stare down loaded AK-47s on nature hikes," said Brady campaign president Paul Helmke. "

Yeah Paul. That's exactly what would start happening. What a moron!

It just passed the House and is on the way to Obama's desk! He's already stated his intention to sign it and I have little doubt he'll change his mind.

Another win for gun rights. :cheers2: :hurry: :patriot: :thumbs2: :anamatedbanana :txflag:
