Thanks from a CHL noob

#1

Post by F_L »

I have been lurking here for a while and decided to join and post up a thanks to this board. I sent my CHL packet to DPS at the end of June and got ready for the LONGGGGGG wait and process time. A few visits to the Waiting Room showed that DPS was getting apps approved much quicker. Sometime last night my online status went to "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active". After reading the horror stories here of 90+ day waits, I was quite impressed. I didn't get my CHL in 60 days, but didn't miss it by much. I think this board (and Charles in particular) are largely responsible for getting DPS to speed up their process. A great example is the sticky with Charles appeal letter. Great job everyone!

My timeline:
5/16/09 - CHL course
6/29/09 - Packet mailed
6/30/09 - Packet arrived at DPS
7/16/09 - Pin issued - Processing Application
9/5/09 - Application Completed - license issued or certificate active

My carry firearms:
Sig P220
Summer carry - Sig P6

I see a wally walk in my future!

Thanks,
Fred

Congratulations F_L. I am in a timeline similar to yours. Mine went "license issued or certificate active" last thursday and have been getting antsy to get my card in the mail. It has been a week for me so far so I am also curious when it will come in the mail.

Will be carrying:
Glock 23 or Kahr MK40 (once broken in)

Nice! Right after I posted my wife called and said that it came in the mail.

So, F_L, about a week.

I wonder if we need anything from the store tonight...
