This is an update to my earlier thread found here:

Sometime between July 2 and July 9, I received a letter stating that I would need to provide proof of citizenship to get my CHL renewed since I was born out of the country.
I FAXed them a copy of my Birth Certificate on July 10.
Today (29 July) I received my CHL--the issue date on the license is 3 July 2006.
Evidently they had it all ready to mail out but held it up until they got my FAXed Birth Certificate.
Anyway, I took the class on 10 June and sent my package in on the 12th, so I can't complain about the time required to issue my renewal. That's 47 days from the mail package date to the receive license date. It appears that I might have gotten it two to three weeks sooner had they not had the citizenship issue come up.

If I can remember in five years, I believe I'll take the same approach. They just took me by surprise this time...I automatically included it with the renewal forms.
Either way, it doesn't seem that there was much delay as a result of the extra requirement. No harm done, I guess.
