I got pulled over once, with a rifle in full view on the back seat.
Not a problem for the officer at all. In fact, his only comment on it was a "thanks" for my removing the bolt from the gun before he approached the car, to set his mind at ease (it was a Russian Mosin-Nagant 44, with the long, wicked spike bayonet; hardly a "friendly" looking gun). Yeah, I know I didn't have to remove the bolt, it just seemed the respectable thing to do.

Mine makes the cut. According to http://www.ak-47.net/ak47/mak90.html my rifle measures:
Overall length 35.1 inches

Pulled the bolt
You pulled the bolt after you stopped, and before the officer got to your car?Thane wrote:I got pulled over once, with a rifle in full view on the back seat.

If I'm on the side of the road, the last thing I want an LEO seeing me doing is fooling with a firearm!

Re: Pulled the bolt
I agree! That could have ended badly if he actually saw what you were doing. I keep my insurance card in the visor above my head for quick access. Once I've got that and my DL and CHL, I don't move around much at all.Rex B wrote:You pulled the bolt after you stopped, and before the officer got to your car?Thane wrote:I got pulled over once, with a rifle in full view on the back seat.
