LOST!! my card holder with CHL *UPDATE*
I can't believe what i did, i live and work in San Antonio. so i had to make a delivery for the co. that i work for and it was in Burnett. my first pit stop was in a shell gas station just outside marble falls then my next stop was in burnett. So i finished my delivery and i headed back to sa between burnett and marble falls i stopped at a rest area to throw some trash and i went on my way, stopping at the same store i did earlier . when i got to the warehouse in san antonio i did a wallet (card holder) and key check and i was so P.O. when i discovered that my card holder was missing. So ther i go all the way back to see if i could find it but i come up with nothing. So i did what you do when you loose your wallet canceled my cc got online to report and replace my chl went and got a new driver license and made a police report. so now my Questing is how long does it take to replace the Chl , has any one else lost their chl?
Ok , something unsuspected happened today. I got home and the first thing i did was check the mail ......and what do you all think i saw a big envelope. the first thing i thought was wow some one found my card holder and send it to me.......... will sure enough some one did find it and send me all my stuff back. i am so glad and thankful, that i wrote them a letter thanking them. so now i just tried calling DPS but there offices are close. My question is now should i cancel my order for the new CHL card and driver license or should i just keep them both as a back up? Or is that frowned up on ?
P.s. I know that i wont get my money back for the replacement cards but that's ok.

Re: LOST!! my card holder with CHL
I would say about a week. I say that because that's about what it took when I changed my address on my DL & CHL awhile back.
Remember, you can still carry in your car without a CHL while you are waiting.

I had to get an "updated address card" in December. It took about two weeks to get the new one in hand if I remember correctly. (in Austin area)
I've been meaning to post a new thread (1st for me) about my address issue which was DPS fault. I guess I will when I can take the time to make it concise.

This is a perfect example of why it is worth it to get a Utah CFP or other non-Resident carry license from another state with Texas reciprocity.
Get one, and keep it in a desk drawer at home. Then when you lose your ID holder with your Texas CHL in it, you can continue to carry under the authority of your Utah CFP until your new Texas CHL arrives in the mail.

Good point on the other state CHL. So my question is how do you go about getting one from say our neighboring states? I am interested.

Re: LOST!! my card holder with CHL
Lots of Texas CHL instructors also offer a Utah CFP course. I got mine from Crossfire Training, which is our own moderator "Crossfire." Their classes are currently being taught at both Cabelas in Fort Worth, and the Roanoke Recreation Center in Roanoke. I sat in on my wife's CHL class as an observer (I already had my CHL), and spontaneously decided to get my Utah CFP while I was there.gwashorn wrote:Good point on the other state CHL. Crossfire charges $25.00 to take the Utah class — taught concurrently with a regular Texas CHL class — and the state of Utah charges $62.50 to process the application. So you're total investment (taking it from Crossfire) is $87.50, which is quite a deal when compared to the cost of a CHL. CLICK HERE for more info on Utah CFP.

I believe it would be illegal for you to retain both the old CHL and the new one.

Re: LOST!! my card holder with CHL *UPDATE*
I called DPS today and they told me, even though i found my license it is no longer valid since i reported it lost. So that means i have to wait for my new one to get to me before i can start to carry.
