Carrying and playin golf...any takers?

#1

Post by Medic218 »

Just got invited to an all day golf outing next week and was thinking about carrying. Not so much because of a BG, but more so because of potential critter encounters which have happened before.
Does anyone else carry while playin golf, or atleast in the cart?

It's actually illegal for me to carry while playing golf. I'm so good, any time I swing a golf club it's considered a professional sporting event and thus carry is prohibited.

But seriously, I've carried every time I've played golf on the wii video game system we got for Christmas. So far my best is a 5-under on the 9-hole course. Haven't swung a real golf club in years.

If you are going to carry on a real golf course - or especially at a driving range - I'd highly recommend one of these http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ARR225-7.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Edited to add: Mark beat me to it on the golf-ball launcher

I've been curious about this too. I'm sure one day I'll have to golf for business, I would have to get a new holster better suited for that activity.

If you carry everywhere else, why would the golf course be an exception? You're preparing for an encounter which has such a small chance of occurring anyway, is the golf course any less likely to make you not carry?

Correct me if I'm wrong Sandy, but if I kill all the golfers, they're gonna lock me up and throw away the key..

True, I've pretty much decided that I'd carry in an prob just keep it in the cart or an easily accessable pocket on my bag.
I just wanted to see what y'alls take was on the topic.

I like the bag idea. Me personally, I'd be as prepared as possible. Looks like a rifle, is a rifle.

I have one of the elastic holsters that velcros inside a vest. I glued the fuzzy part on to the bag inside the upper right flap on the golf bag. The holster has the hook part on it. Very handy.

I keep a Ruger LCP in my front pocket all of the team, even during Golf. It should not interfere with your swing and since it is so light it will not be considered a swing aide?

It is so bad in the spring at our municipal course here that they encourage you not to go look for your ball out in the rough because of the rattlesnakes!

Had a roadrunner dart out and grab a small rattler on the fairway in front of me just as I was about to hit my second shot one day.

A golf course is a waste of land that could be used as a rifle range.

here in ft Worth there have been several armed robberies on the course. The BGs would hide in the woods off the green and catch players off-guard.
So the few times I've played, I've pocket carried an LCP or a P32. The way I play it doesn't affect my game
