OK, I have some questions on CHL renewals

#1

Post by HoustonHusker »

I just got my package from Austin and wanted to know the following:

1. Where is the best place to get color passport photos in Houston-done the CHL mandated way

2. Where and who can I contact to do my qualifying shooting with

3. How do I go about getting the Notary Public to know I'm up-to-date with all the new reg's/changes

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,

HH

You need to sign up for a renewal class. It's not like your driver's license, where you just do the paperwork and send it in. You have to take a renewal class, 4 to 6 hours in length. Most instructors arrange to take care of the photos, fingerprints, and notary work during the class.

I am in the DFW area, so I don't know where to tell you to go in Houston, but I am sure someone here will have a good recommendation for you.

Good luck to you!

You can go to Walgreens for the passport photo. I'm sure there are many other places.

There are many good places to get your CHL renewal class. If your in the NW area of Harris County, you could go to Pruett's class.

I'm not sure about the notary question. They're not included anywhere in the process that I know of.

I could tell you who to go to for an "all-inclusive" class that will take care of those issues...

And a few others here could as well...

Let us know what part of Houston you hang your hat, and that may help in letting someone know what instructor is closest of convienient for you...

Lots of them around too...

You will do yourself a favor if you choose an instructor that does a turn key class. That includes walking you through all paper work, on site notary, pictures, prints, & range to qualify you. They are more expensive but after you pay for gas to go get everything you have not saved any money & you have SPENT a lot of time. There are several in Houston. Since I am 125 mi North I don't know who they are.

Stevie,

I live in Mid-Town...Shephard and Memorial. I don't mind driving if it's a full-service provider. I'd like to knock it out in one day--class, shooting, pics, the whole nine yards.

Any help is appreciated, and I'd like to thank all the fellas that responded to this plea for help!
