Poll: How many rounds do you carry?

#1

Post by terryg »

I know sometimes some go 'light'. If I could post two polls, I would ask both for the 'light' load and the 'full' load. But since only one poll per post:

How many rounds to you generally carry - your most frequent load out?

Count all rounds in all weapons and magazines on your walking person - not in vehicles. Don't count knives, tazers, pepper spray, or any other projectiles including thoughts of throwing your emptied weapon.

Edited to add: Speed loaders and ammo belt loops also included.

Just curious and thanks in advance ...

Edited to add 'Poll' to the Subject.

I answered 21-25 because that's my most common carry. But I vary it a lot

From least to most ...

15 - J-frame plus two speedstrips

18 - LCP plus two spare mags

20 - Walther PPS 9mm plus one spare 6-round mag and one spare 7-round mag

23 - Glock 27 +1 Pearce grip plus one spare 13-round Glock 23 mag

26 - Glock 23 plus one 13-round spare mag

39 - Glock 23 plus two 13-round spare mags

51 - Glock 17 plus two 17-round spare mags

And occasionally I'll add a BUG to one of the above carry set ups - even more rounds on body.

For me, it is either 31 or 46 (at night, or when carrying a fanny pack). Most of the tme, it is 31 and this is what I voted.

I answered 21-25 too because thats my most common loadout as well.

25 of .45 if I'm carrying the 1911.
Either 23 or 33 of .45 if I'm carrying the PT145.
Just 15 of .357 when I'm carrying the wheel gun. (I guess I could load up all my speedstrips to the max and make that 29, but that kind of defeats the purpose of getting to throw on the pocket gun with a couple of speed strips.)

On special days when I'm carrying the .357 on the ankle as a BUG, I guess that would make total round count 40.

1911 - 8 rounds + 1 in the pipe + spare 8 round mag = 17
642 BUG - 5 rounds + 2x5 round speedstrips + 1 in the pouch = 16
total = 33

It depends if I'm just carrying the snub it's 15. If I have the .40 M&P with me then its 61 (15 .38s and 46 40s) If the AR is in the truck then you can add another 60-100. I call 2 handguns and a rifle Port Arthur lightly armed. :evil2: "rlol"

Thanks for thinking about and sticking to the most common. I think the results will be the most interesting and useful that way.

In another thread I think the discussion was on rounds versus magazines etc. I carry an XD9SC with the 13 round plus one. Then two Mecgar mags with 18 each. If a mag fails, I have two more to try. The number of rounds is if they all work. It is still three good tries to get a round off and then extra ones if they all work. So for me it is two mags not 36 extra rounds.

Normal is three mags for 1911's either 7 or 8 per depending on which one. Most of the time I also have a bug with another 6 in it. I answered 21-24.

As few as 5 (J-Frame) and as many as 13 (.40).

I don't carry extra magazines or speed loaders. . .

Mine varies.

While working..5 in the snubby and 5 more on a speed strip.
All other times same as above plus 9 in the Kimber and 8 more in a spare mag.

Again, being very new to CC...........can anyone please explain why you might have a need to carry (30+) so much ammunition? I feel like I might be missing something.

Are there any stats posted anywhere on the net that shows data detailing the number of shots fired by a civilian in a justified self defense shooting?
