Sensationalized news coverage about a mob of people bringing guns into the fair? I don't think that would help the cause. When the broadcaster explains the ambiguity of the owns or leases law--which Charles said in another thread would lose if currently challenged--and the public, in the way they associate guns with violence and the state fair with being a greater than average risk for violence together with the info that you're already allowed to carry there but object to searches or what the public will perceive to be a very easy documentation process, then you're guaranteed to lose that PR campaign.Crossfire wrote:I think we should all show up at 1 gate, at the same time, and invite Fox 4 News to meet us there.

I thing the point was that they knew they'd be VERY unlikely to hit on anything between the knees and ankles.sjfcontrol wrote:What the heck is the point of that? Are ankle-holsters outlawed?Barron76 wrote:Show the guard my CHL & DL, he wands from my feet to my knees & says have a nice day...

Fox 4 News coverage and the efforts of James Dark, who was then Executive Director of the TSRA, were the ones who got us into the State Fair in 2007, when they forbid CHL holders to carry there.Hoi Polloi wrote:Sensationalized news coverage about a mob of people bringing guns into the fair? I think you're mis-reading what he said in regards to that.Hoi Polloi wrote:When the broadcaster explains the ambiguity of the owns or leases law--which Charles said in another thread would lose if currently challenged--
He said that if we got back into 30.06 Legislatively, to try and modify it to further restrict property owners rights, or attempt to clarify it further, we would only lose ground, it would never get better, only worse.
However, currently, legally, it's rock solid.
IANAL, YMMV, ITEOTWAWKI and all that.

If the TSF and its parking is in such a bad area and if there is such a hassle getting in with your CCW, why bother? What's there that you haven't seen before?

Next year's new cars and sometimes some cool old ones. And something that no one would have ever or should have ever thought of frying.Oldgringo wrote:If the TSF and its parking is in such a bad area and if there is such a hassle getting in with your CCW, why bother? I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

The frying cooks off all the alcohol. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!Crossfire wrote:Can you have fried beer while carrying concealed at the State Fair?

Uh huh, right. You have to show ID to buy it. And probably give them the number for your cardiologist too.
