Let's carry to the State Fair on Friday Sept 24 !

Post by drjoker »

Let's carry to the State Fair on Friday Sept 24! PM me if you're interested. We may even be able to carpool to save money on parking. 4PM to closing time (midnight?). Remember, Rosa Parks made it possible to ride the bus without being hassled. We can make it possible to go to the State Fair without being hassled. Your 2nd A right is a basic human right. I invite you to notice that a right unexercised is a right lost. :tiphat:

P.S. I want to challenge a non-LEO writing our CHL information down. It is no longer a CONCEALED weapon if a non-LEO writes my info down and yells, "Hey, we've got a gun! What should I do?" Clearly writing our info down is an attempt to intimidate us from doing what we have a legal right to do. Just in case, I will be wearing an AV wire and retain the services of an attorney. The more people that join me, the stronger our case. It's like the civil rights protests of the 60's. If MLK marched by himself, how persuasive you think that would be? But, since he marched with millions, he was very persuasive. I invite you to do a bit of persuading!

P.P.S. I will let you know how it goes. My wife will be VERY angry with me if she finds out because she hates guns and I will be totin' one against her wishes. My own lawyer told me, "Well, why don't you just leave your gun in the car?" I told him that the neighborhood is not that nice and if no one from the forum carpools with me, I will probably just park in the 'hood and walk to the fair. I will drop off my wife at the fair first before parking so I'll enter the fair by myself. That way, she won't know that I'm carrying. BTW, you don't have to carpool with me. I understand that not everyone will want to stay 'til closing time. We could just meet up at the front gate and you could leave first, if you'd like. Just PM. Wish me luck!

I could make it sometime next week. I have a high school football game to attend,
unarmed, this Friday night. Let us know how it goes.

We can carry at the State Fair already. So are you planning to challenge the copying of your CHL information down or the fact you must show a LEO your CHL before entering? Not sure what your thoughts are here.

I think he's just looking for a little forum unity and this is only an attempt for folks with a common interest to get together and enjoy the fair.

From my experience last year with a nice non- LEO gentleman, "We are just making sure the weapon will not fall out if you go on a roller coaster or some rides that go upside down". :headscratch

we should give them time and our patience it's fairly new to them......

I'm afraid that's too short of a notice for us.

My issue would be the same as last year. If a non-Leo OR a Leo tries to write down any information,
or via swipe or scan, contained on my CHL..... I will not be attending the Fair. Period.
I realize the bigtex web site has changed the wording on (FAQ)CHL carry. However, sometimes it's what
is NOT written that is the problem. I can't find where the Fair policy has changed regarding trying to
collect info from CHL holders. I'm interested to see exactly how the "wanders", State Fair officials
and the whole CHL issue is handled this year. High drama at the entry gate, "He's got a gun"....?
Or, simply show the Leo on duty the CHL, "have a nice time".
Those of you that are able to attend early on, please remember to post your experiences.

I hope to have my holster so that I can finally carry. I'll be attending the fair the last Monday of October. I'm interested in hearing about any issues involved in getting in. Also, I plan on riding the TRE from Fort Worth. Is there a problem in carrying on the train?

Carry away on the TRE step-son and I have been carrying since we were licensed. And yeah late at night it is a real comfort with some of the people that just wander the metroplex all day and night.

Would love to go, but Friday evening we will be setting up for a Saturday morning CHL class. Also have a class next weekend, but if you wait until Oct 8, we are good to go!

Everything went fine at the State Fair.

I went to the State Fair today and said the following with a high five, "Hey, man, I'm CHL. Go Longhorns! How you doin?" (I mistakenly thought it was Texas - OU day, oops!)

"I'm cool. Have fun."

I was carrying a Glock 19 with a double spare clip holder, high ride hip holster, outside pants, under a UT T-shirt. They formed a very noticeable bulge under my T-shirt.

That's it. No wand. No search. No request for ID. Carry away.

I did read some Gestapo stuff where they took down the info of other CHL holders on another forum. I think they're being very inconsistent. Some gates had a wander and other gates didn't. The "security" were obviously just minimum wagers who didn't give a care. They were definitely NOT police officers. I have no problems giving my info to the police, but not to the jokers they had manning the security gate.

If you saw a rowdy dude wearing a burnt orange Longhorns T-shirt, that was me.

My wife saw the piece and she was mad... (she doesn't like guns). I'm sleeping on the couch tonight. Sheesh, the things I do for our Second Amendment rights!

P.S. If they pull some Gestapo stuff on you, be sure to be polite, but persistent. Ask to speak with a supervisor and a police officer. Tell them that if they want your info, that's fine, but the person taking down your info better give you their Driver's License so you could take down their info, in case your home gets broken in to and all your guns get stolen, you'll know who did it. Another forum member told me that he told them this, stood his ground and they finally let him in without requiring his info. Maybe we could do an open holster (no guns, just an empty open carry holster) protest in a large group to protest their Gestapo tactics! PM me if you're interested. What about morning of October 10 for a mass open holster protest? PM me if you're interested!

I know, I know, y'all go to church on Sunday mornings. However, my wife hates guns so I'll have to play hookie from church while my wife is at church in order to do this. To make up for missing church, I'll be good and not drink at the fair....

:cheers2:

I'll pass. My wife and I will be going mid-week some time, but I would just as soon enter unobtrusively and not announce for anyone to overhear, "Hey, man, I'm CHL," unless I actually have to. And if I have to talk about it, it will be in low tones.

I'll be there this Wednesday with my Mother & Sister.

On Wednesdays, admission is $1.00 with 3 cans of food.
