I am not familiar with the area or restaurant, so I could be way off. There is no "Texas Bar and Grill" licensed in Dallas or Tarrant Counties. When I did a Google search to find the restaurant, then a TABC search for the address, I found a "Cellar Restaurant & Bar" and a "Cipriani Cafe" with the same address (220 E. Las Colinas, Irving). I can tell you nothing about the cafe since they only have the MB to serve drinks, with no subordinates. The Cellar has an FB subordinate, so it cannot be 51%.

But I cannot be sure that these are the right place. If the Cellar is actually the right place, TABC may get upset with them for operating under a different business name. But I did find one notation in the Google search that noted that the Texas Bar and Grill had closed, so this may just be the new name and everything is correct.

Hope that helps a little, and maybe someone who knows the area can do a better search.

OK folks, I can give you the backstory on the venue. I decided to go have lunch there today since I hadn't been there in awhile. I wanted to be sure there were no 30.06s and 51% issues to avoid. As I pull up Las Colinas Blvd, I first thing I see is that the sign has been changed. My familiar "Texas Bar and Grill" has been changed to "The Cellar". For you fans of the venue, yes, its a sad passing.

The place has completely changed looks. Gone are the rusic barnboard walls and beer-stained wooden floors. Its now a more contemporary and modern look. Its still an open restaurant with the outdoor patio seating next to the canal. The menu is burgers, sammys, wraps, and salads. Ironically enough, the pool table is still in the back. It appears they are set up with a small stage for happy hour bands I assume.

I spoke with the owner and he gave me some background. Apparently TB&G closed last summer, and he went through extensive renovation. He told me stories about removing the walls and floors. (The walls are now adorning some new bar in Rockwall) The Cellar opened on Superbowl weekend in February. I let him know we are considering his place for lunch, and he offered to set up a drink special for us, rope off a section of restaurant, set up a menu discount, etc. if we give him some advance notice. (BTW, I do have his card and menu if you're interested) He seemed like an owner who is interested in attracting this group to his place, and is willing to set up whatever we wanted to gain our business.

The venue is not too much further from Elm Fork than Micardo Juarez - its just in the opposite direcition towards highway 114.

On a personal note, I've been going to the old TB&G for the last 20 years since moving to Dallas. The place has always been known for getting an ice cold beer and a good sandwich whenever I worked in or stopped thru Las Colinas. I've spend many Friday happy hours unwinding from work, loosening the tie (when we wore them), and contributing to the stained floor I'm sure. For the Western boot wearing crowd - you would have fit right in and feel right at home. I am sorry to see its passing.

Thanks for the update Griffen!! I can't wait to hear the group's input on restaurants. While you're all responding, will you please also respond to these, too?

-Excaliber and Andy have volunteered to work with people on grip, stance, and shooting technique during the help session. Anyone else who can help them? Anything different you can offer to help with?

-The help session is when we'll be shooting others' guns as well. Who has guns they'll allow others to shoot? If you have a gun others may shoot, do they have to have their own bullets or will you have a few (limit 2? 3? 5? per person) they can use with a suggested donation in the cup?

-Who has holsters and/or belts to show off? I'm thinking of setting these up at the end of the help session/beginning of the chat. Then we're all coming together, people can keep an eye on and talk about/help with their own holsters, and everyone has a chance to see the options. And then we're all together for the next activity, too. Input?

-Should we have a table where attendees can offer stuff for sale? Place business cards? That kind of thing? It would be set up for the end of the talk time as we transitioned into our own shooting.

-There was some difficulty last time with people running out of ammo because they didn't bring a sufficient amount to make it through the day. Will those with more experience please give a good guess on a suggested ammo count? Please break it up into a suggested number for each section (help section if you're getting shooting help, help section if you're primarily talking/shooting others' guns, shoot your own section, skeet time).

-What would you recommend people bring? Assume they don't know which end is the business end of the gun. They need a gun, ammo, range fee, eye and ear protection for everyone at the range (not just shooters) and will hopefully somehow be included in the head counts for the range and the restaurant before we go. What else?

Either restaurant is fine, but if I had to choose I would go with Mexican.

I don't think I am experienced enough to offer much in the way of assistance.

As you can see from my signature line, I just have my Glocks and the Henry. If we can shoot it there and anyone would like to try it I would be happy to bring the Henry and some ammo.

You might want to check with the range folks on what they will allow before trying to set up tables for show and tell, etc.

There is a clubhouse in the office building that may be available, but I don't know if there's a fee for using it.

Yes, I would definitely OK it with the range. Just wanted to see if there was interest before bothering to figure out logistics.

Well, I'm still a "Maybe" on being there, but if I can be, I will have my S&W M&P 9mm compact and full size (not pro or L), my M&P 15-22 and the Benelli 12 gauge pump for skeet or Trap if time.

I'll bring extra 9mm if anyone needs some extra and should have enough .22 if we get to shoot the rifles.

It's sad to hear about TB&G, was looking forward to going back if that won the vote. Mercardo Juarez would be my next choice

I will have my Mosin for people to shoot I have about 50 rounds of that cheap steal case ammo(FMJ) that I want to burn through so it is free for the shooting, last time I shot it I got 10 rounds down the pipe before the bolt started to lock up and my hand got sore. I also have a .45(Taurus PT-145), .380(Bersa firestorm) & .25( Raven) however need your own ammo if you want to shoot more then a few rounds.

I'll be bringing an XDM 4.5" 9mm, XDM Compact 9mm, RIA 1911 GI Series .45, and a S&W 22A. If my friend comes he will be bringing a Walther PPS .40 and a Glock 19. If anyone wants to shoot these I expect I'll have plenty of ammo with me but feel free to bring your own or donate ;)

I'm also thinking about bringing my Mosin out since I don't shoot it much (I'm terrible with iron sights). I have a ton of cheap surplus ammo for it so anyone can shoot it as much as they want.

As far as restaurants go, it's hard to go wrong with mexican.

Is anyone thinking about doing some skeet shooting? I have a Remington 970 Wingmaster that I never get a chance to take out and I could use pointers/practice.

IF I can make it (and I'll be crying if I can't), I'll bring my Beretta 92G, the Boss's Taurus .380 (in pink!!!) and my Mosin M44 (with shoulder pad). Perhaps I can get SWMBO to join the fun if she's available. If I have the boys again that weekend, I know they'll want to go. They haven't shot the Mosin yet, and have been pestering me....

I'll also bring along the Mossberg 500 shorty (with pistol grip) if any of the adventurous types want to run a few slugs through it. 12ga, 2-3/4 inch, regular load. Any broken hands are the responsibility of the operator........  :patriot: :txflag:

My budget is a little tight these days, but I'm always willing to share whatever ammo I have.

P.S.--where can I get some of that "slide glide" stuff. It would probably help the little Taurus out tremendously to have a dose.....

Google-foo returned this: http://brianenos.com/pages/slide-glide.html. I'm having really good results with Eezox

I'll bring and am willing to let others shoot the following pistols:

Rock Island 1911 Compact (Officer's size)
Rock Island 1911 (Full size) - I'll also have a Kimber 22LR conversion for this one if anyone wants to use it.
Kimber Ultra CDP II
Sig P239 9mm
Sig P238 - I need to put about 200 rounds through this one. Any volunteers to help? ;-)

If there is any interest, I can also bring my Colt AR6520. The rifle itself is very plane-jane, but I've added a few items that might be of interest. Namely a Trijicon ACOG with an RMR sight perched on top. Also a CMC trigger which is a vast improvement on the stock trigger group.
