This is an important distinction. You can carry at private or municipal airports to your hearts content, and even inside the "big" airports, just not in the secured areas.hirundo82 wrote:That should be "ain't behind the metal detectors in an airport."Oldgringo wrote:ain't an airport,

Airports, bars, correction facilities and amusement parks are all pretty much off my "go-to" lists but THANKS for the clarification.AJSully421 wrote:This is an important distinction. Re: Moody Gardens
I don't know who is in charge of the esthetics of Moody Gardens, but I suspect whoever it is would choke at the thought of putting up a valid 30.06 sign. I haven't been there for a while, but IIRC they don't have the usual "no smoking no shirt no shoes no service" crud either.
As I said, there is no valid 30.06 sign anywhere on Galveston Island. Welcome to the sandbar. Stay safe.

I wondering if Any one has gone since last weeks.. And IF they have posted 30.06 ??
I'm assuming from what I read, none if Moody Gardens is posted...
If you went, what did you think of the $25 million in enhancements ?

Hey, I carry on my airport all the time! I live there!Oldgringo wrote:You know...just about the time I get it figured out, here comes another slew of questions about where it's legal to carry, valid signs and the such.
I've about decided that if:
if it ain't 30.06 posted,
ain't a school or school event,
ain't a courthouse,
ain't a professional sporting event,
ain't a federal employee place,
ain't an amusement park,
ain't an airport,
I can carry my CHL CONCEALED weapon with impunity. Did I leave anything out?

Re: Moody Gardens
An amusement park must be properly posted. You can carry in the unsecured part of the airport.
Don't carrying at a polling place or a place of execution. Don't carry in an establishment that posts a red 51% sign. There are more, but that is just off of the top of my head.

Re: Moody Gardens
Even if it was an amusement park it would still need proper signs, which then wouldn't be valid on city property. Amusement parks enjoy no special restrictions anymore.GlockFan wrote:Is it concidered a amusment park?
Heading down there today. Or is it posted?
Re: Moody Gardens - Rainforest Pyramid reopens
I was there with my wife and kids over the Memorial Day weekend. There was nothing posted at Moody Gardens. SeamusTX is right, I saw absolutely nothing correctly posted or even close to being posted on the island.bat1 wrote:Rainforest Pyramid reopens. http://galvestondailynews.com/story/233870

The rainforest pyramid was cool but it was our first time so I have no idea what it was like before.

Re: Moody Gardens
The Paddle Wheel boat ride at Moody Gardens has a big old "Marsec 1" warning sign before you load onto the boat. The sign said that you may be searched and boarding the boat means you are consenting to this search.
The captain came on the speakers and said they were "coast guard certified".
I refused to go back to my car to disarm so I went ahead and boarded and I wasn't given any trouble, but I was a little extra careful to not allow any printing of my Glock.

Re: Moody Gardens
The search on the paddle wheel is so you don't have food or drink, and you have to purchase something on the boat... we all had just bought big drinks and got brain freezes from slugging them... they searched my purse but didn't find a thing!
