Sorry, TAM. Your judgment is becoming questionable, since once again I agree with you. :iagree:
Elmo, we have got to stop meeting like this, or I'm going to have to ask Scott in Houston to hold onto my guns for me.....

We sure have been getting quite a few unusual questions lately. This one is easy. NO!

Do you know the complete history of the gun since it last left your possession? Do you know that it is not an item of interest in any legal matter outside of a divorce? Do you want to be caught holding the snipe bag?

As others here have stated, there are some things in which you do not involve friends. Picking a friend up at the airport is far different than holding a firearm for another's questionable purpose.

I agree with the poster who advised you to take the firearm to the lawyer. Take a witness with you. Good luck!

I wouldn't sign a fake bill of sale but I also wouldn't respond to the lawyer. If my friend wants the gun back, I would return it. If a court of competent jurisdiction orders me to turn over the gun to someone, I would comply. Nobody else merits a response in word, much less in deed.

Well I decided to just give my helper his gun back to him. I told him I didn't feel I could help any longer on holding the gun for him. He was not to happy about that. Oh well!

Thanks guys for all the advise.

Sounds like there are minefields all over this one. Don't do it ! It's real simple, if you are being asked to lie or do something you did not do, trouble will be right behind you !

I knew of a feller many years ago that sold off all his boy toys just after seperation but before his divorce. The toys included many firearms , a boat... a four wheeler... even a contraption called a "duck" that drives right into the water and floats. He sold everything for pennies on the dollar. He had actually sold the stuff too. He said he would rather get the short end of the deal than allow her to make money off the stuff. He produced the recepts and was quite disappointed when the judge ruled that he had to cough up 50% of the actual market value of the items he had all but given away. When a plan goes bad... it can go real bad...LOL.
