Concealed Carry Confrontation

#1

Post by retrieverman »

My brother told me that on one of his trips to Academy (not sure which one but probably Lufkin) that there was an employee sitting at the front of the store trying to pick out who was carrying, and he was actually asking people to confirm or deny it.

How would you react to this kind of comfrontation? :headscratch

Tell him that even if I were carrying it would be illegal for me to tell him because that would make it intentionally failing to conceal the presence of the gun.

If you tell somebody you are carrying a concealed handgun you might as well not be concealing it.

Then I would have politely told him to shove off.

I'd say "No" Concealed carry means concealed and it's none of their business

I would say:

"Why do you want to know?"

"Are you a law enforcement officer?"

"Are you aware that I am not required to disclose that information to anyone other than a law enforcement officer?"

"Thank you. I will be taking my business elsewhere now. Have a nice day."

I agree with everyone's advise up to this point.
All good advise so far.

agreed! he has no right to be asking and should be removed from being a door greeter.

side note and funny story - went to six flags over texas - had on my wilderness instructor belt on and removed and locked up my Glock30 in the car. When I walk thru the metal detectors this young - very young - security guard freaks out. I calmly tell him it is my belt and remove the belt and re-enter. No alarm. Now here is the funny:

This guy tells me that I am not allowed to wear that belt in the park. I respectfully ask him to repeat what he said. He tells me - you cannot wear that belt in here because it is a weapon unless you are a police officer or some special operations person. I had 5 kids under the age of 10 with me - no gun, no knife, not even a bag to hide anything in. Being old enough to be his father - I felt like grabbing him by his ear and dragging him around for a bit.... instead I...

Demanded to speak to his supervisor - got free passes for the family and the young guard was sent home.

I would not say anything. I would just turn around and walk out. :coolgleamA:
If enough people simply did that, I think they would get the message.
