Brazoria County Fair 2011
Has anyone been to the Brazoria County Fair in 2011 yet? I was curious if it was ok for me to carry.

Their general rule #12 states that no weapons will be allowed on the fairgrounds.
What I don't know is if the fair grounds are on property owned by the county or any other government entity. We've been through this with the state fair and they have come to realize that because it is on property owned by the city of Dallas they cannot prohibit a CHL from carrying there. And from the experience of others here we have also learned that their wanders don't have any idea what they are doing and there could be any number of illegal guns inside the fairgrounds.

I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Re: Brazoria County Fair 2011
I found an article from 2008 that seemed to indicate it was owned by the county. There were a couple of propositions proposed for the ballot to improve the fairgrounds.
Upon searching some more, it appears this topic has come up several times. Didn't see an answer to the question though. Anyone from the past carry at the fairgrounds?

No wanders, no wannabe TSA, just bought my ticket, went in and behaved as a law-abiding armed citizen, as usual.

Re: Brazoria County Fair 2011
I looked up the tax records a couple years ago but I can't find it anymore. From what I understand the Fair Association leases the grounds from Brazoria County. There is one sign at the entrance that talks about no guns, but it isn't 30.06 compliant and is barely readable anyway. If I come across wanders as long as they aren't police officers then I just tell them I have a metal hip, or a colostomy (my mother had one), after explaining what that is nobody has ever asked to see it.

I went this past weekend and carried. There was a 30.06 sign at the entrance that I used (no people wanding) but the letters were way too small and there was only an english sign, no spanish. Carry away at the fair. Just remember that professional sporting events are still off limits.
