What do you do with the old one....
Just got my renewal license and was wanting to know what to do with the old one. I've heard u send it back and other times I hear u cut it up. Does anyone know what to do with it? Thanks for the help
Re: What do you do with the old one....
On driver's licenses, after I get the new one ... I cut the old one up (or DPS does) but keep my picture.
This came in handy to show my niece that I used to be good looking ... she wanted proof.

Wouldn't it be nice if DPS allowed us to photoshop prior to them printing?

I have several old DL's, my first CHL, and the old one before my last address change. No one ever asked for them back.

Frame it?
I haven't found a good frame that will hold both the license and the badge though

Don't forget, you also need room for the sash and the tiara.RPB wrote:

It seems that frame already has a badge but I want the SA frame, not the NSA one.

Yep. The way I understand it is that you cannot be in possession of two, unexpired CHLs. For a renewal, since the old one is expired, you can keep it if you want, or cut it up and toss it.

The law requires the previous one to be returned if you upgrade from NSA to SA. See 411.184(d)Skiprr wrote:Yep. The way I understand it is that you cannot be in possession of two, unexpired CHLs. For a renewal, since the old one is expired, you can keep it if you want, or cut it up and toss it.
There is no such requirement in the CHL law for renewals, address changes, et cetera.
