Photo for CHL

#1

Post by TxD »

The camera wasn't working at my CHL renewal class, so I had
passport photos taken at Walgreens.
It appears that the photographer stood to close as the face is larger
than my actual passport photo.
What are the various size requirements for the photo?
Is there a white border around the photo, etc?
I don't have my renewal packet yet.
Thanks in advance.

From the CHL website: (http://www.texasonline.state.tx.us/NASA ... elcome.jsp)

(5) Two recent color passport photographs of the applicant. The applicant shall submit two identical photographs of the applicant to the person who fingerprints the applicant, as detailed in paragraph (6) of this section. The photographs must be un-retouched color prints. Snapshots, vending machine prints, and full length photographs will not be accepted. The photographs must be 2 by 2 inches in size. The photographs must be taken in normal light, with white or off-white background. The photographs must present a good likeness of the applicant taken within the last six months. The photographs must present a clear, frontal image of the applicant, and include the full face from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head, including hair. The image of the applicant must be between 1 and 1-3/8 inches. Only the applicant may be portrayed.

Walgreens knows better. In classes where I don't do the photos myself, I send people to Walgreens because they always do well and they are by far the cheapest place around here (Lubbock area).

The passport standard is used by just about everyone, so any place that advertises passport photo services should know exactly what is required.

My original application was delayed because the photographer stood too close. I had to have them retaken.

Also, don't wear glasses, even if you normally do. Mine are photogray and my photos were not accepted because they were considered to be sun glasses (even clear lenses cause a reflection in the photos). When I called about the clear lenses, I was told that even though you normally wear glasses, they would rather you wear no glasses at all in the photos so that your eyes can be seen.
