CHL Question

#1

Post by Banjo1960 »

Hello all! I am new to the site and have enjoyed reading all the post so far. I have a question, I applied on line and have to mail the rest of the material in to DPS, should I mail it regular mail at the post office or use Fed X? I sure would like some feed back on this.
Thanks!

Certified mail worked for me.

And it was cheaper.

Thanks, when you send it certified mail do you ask for a return receipt that someone has received it? Also one more question, when you send the material back do you put the sign photo holder in the same envelope with photo's or just in the packet?
Thanks!

Just paid for delivery confirmation. I think the return receipt requires some one to sign for the mail and I was told that the DPS doesn't do this. Neither is really necessary as you can see that it arrived via the DPS website. If it is lost you'd have to send a replacement whether the USPS or the DPS lost it. The delivery confirmation would just let me know which group to be mad at if it got lost.

Can't help on how to put them in the envelope, don't remember but it seems the instructor gave us directions on how to organize the package. Could be wrong about that though.

I got my return receipt, they just stamp it instead of singing it.

Sometimes sending stuff certified actually slows it down because it has to go through another process at the receiving
location.

That was one of the advantage of the old paper application and personal checks. If they cashed the check, you knew they received it.

No wonder why the PO is going broke. When I worked in the PO certified was always more expensive. I believe it still is
today but who knows.

Maybe the PO in north Texas has different rates. Here the price of certified is the price of First Class + certification fee +
fee for return receipt. I had to check with my old charts probably changed.
