Dropped my CHL application in the mail today. Now I start the grueling process of watching the mail box. I understand that it can sometimes take 3 months or longer.

Supposed to be within 60 days (plus snail mail) unless there's a problem ...

At least you got it in the system. That's more than a whole lot of folks ever get around to doing. Congrats.

Encouragement

dws1117,

My renewal came yesterday; only took 5-6 weeks from when I sent it.

Look at it this way: you have an exciting surprise coming in the mail, and it could come any day. Just like waiting for your CMP Garand.

Regards,

Took 91 days when I first got mine. I am starting the renewal process and hopefully it will be the 5-6 weeks as Bob Cat 's did. I was dragging my heels on the renewal so I might end up a week or 2 with out a licence.

Well, it has only been since Thursday that the app went into the mail. Rationally I know that maybe it got there on friday. If I think rationally, I also know that this is going to take a while, but DANG IT! this wait is going to be torture. If it is this bad not, what am I going to be like in mid Feburary? :?

In the meantime try a duster and an 18" barrel shotgun :)

My experience

Post by murray97 »

Mine took 73 days (or so) from the time DPS received the application until the time I received the license. The staff at DPS told me they were running behind on processing time, and renewals are getting the higher priority. I did not receieve any communication from DPS for the entire time (I applied online and had my PIN from the beginning).

I forgot to sign ONE little box on one of the fingerprint cards and it seemed like forever to fix it.

It can take 1-3 weeks for your app to even get entered into the system once you mail it in. The same people that input the chl data are also inputting every other kind of application and licensing info you can imagine and it's first come first serve.

So dws1117, whats the latest update on your CHL? I just dropped mine in the mail last friday (3/4/05) I'm just curious how long they are taking these days.

I would have sent mine in before, but I turned 21 last friday, so that was the soonest I could have sent it.

60 days more sure is a long time to wait....

Sent mine on 2/1/05 and they haven't even entered it into the system yet. They did cash my money order though, so I guess they have their priorities straight. :?

Finally got my PIN in the mail today. I was starting to worry, but now I feel better knowing at least they've got it in processing. Hopefully it won't be too much longer now.

I hand-delivered my CHL materials to DPS HQ on Jan. 18 (65 days ago)and have yet to get an issued CHL. I hear they are taking up to 3 months these days.
