Well yes I will agree that it might be that she does not trust me. I told her that sign was illegal and she still said she was scared of getting arrested that day. She doesn’t believe any statistics I tell her even after I tell her they are from the FBI.

And it might be that SHE doesn’t think SHE can handle a gun so NO one should handle a gun (the old “only cops are trained to carry guns ha yea right that’s why cops shoot more bi-standers every year. Let us not forget “I’m the only one in this room qualified to use the Glock 40 ….BANG.)

She’s had a friend shoot himself while “cleaning a gun. Yes I know its impossible to shoot yourself while cleaning your gun, the first step is removing all bullets from the gun, it would be pretty hard to clean any gun with a bullet in the chamber. And a friend killed in a domestic dispute. She doesn’t even want to be around guns. I have rifles and she’s fine with those “cause they are for hunting, so I didn’t think anything about buying a pistol and getting my CHL. In all fairness I probably didn’t handle it right and triggered a defense mechanism. I guess I should read http://www.jpfo.org/ragingagainstselfdefense.htm more.

We broke up the other night cause I told her I was going to carry 24/7 and since she can’t stand being around guns she couldn’t stand being around me. Later we got back together with her understanding that I will have guns and she seams ok with that for now. We’ll see what happens. I do love her. And I can kinda understand her feelings toward guns after losing a few friends to them but she needs to separate the tool from the action.

Take Her Shooting

#17

Post by anygunanywhere »

Take her shooting. Bring along a nice .22 pistol. Arrange for another woman to be there. The woman should be one who can relate to your lady on her terms - one who originally was not really into the shooting sports. Your lady probably will not relate to us testosterone laden gun freaks who pull slugs out of .458 Winchester shells with our teeth and pour the powder on our cereal. Make sure the range isn't full of the studs with the 454 Casull revolvers.

A nice suvignon blanc with citrus notes on the finish and oysters on the half shell afterward will work wonders. Joe's Jefferson St. Cafe sometimes has the oysters. They usually have a saugignon blanc on their list as well. They have about the best wine list in Kerrville.

One good way to put a woman at ease with firearms is get her networked with other females who shoot. Texas Women's Shooting Sports is a fun, entertaining and safe group for them to know.

Here's a pic of the DIVA's from the recent NRA Convention in Houston and another group from Dallas.

I was at the museum this weekend (Butterfly exhibit and IMAX - Fighter Pilot) and saw the signs barely visible through the tinted glass. What bothers me is that some with a CHL that do not "live and breath" the laws may be deterred and not carry when they see this sign. Is there any way to get these taken down?

Hello Steve. I'll check with the Lovely Bride and get a name and contact info. IIRC the top pic was taken in Houston at the NRA convention earlier this year. Lovely Bride is in trial this morning picking a jury so it will be this evening. Best,

We remember the Alamo because against long odds we were forced give up one building.
