Hotel room that night and drive back home. Did not see what a hotel or business posting that is like our 30.06 sign though.

Oklahoma Trooper pulled me over doing 50 on a 40, showed my plastics, I was carrying concealed, saw my firearm, gave me a warning, sent me on my way. You're ok in Oklahoma.

Much appreciated. My only concern now is how to recognize at the hotel a sign that says anything. I looked up the code on Arkansas. Just said a sigh posted and can be read at 10 feet saying no concealed guns. Staying at the Holiday Inn in Springdale.

I don't know about Arkansas' laws, but in Oklahoma you have to watch for "gunbuster" signs, as they have the force of law. I do keep an eye out for them when I visit up north, but happily I've never seen any (although I'm sure some are out there).

In other states that do not have the elegance of defining the 30.06 language, if posting a no guns sign has force of law, simply hanging up a brown paper grocery sack with "No Guns" scribbled in crayon would constitute legal notice. Most place literally define zero requirements.

Personally, I like Kentucky's approach. A business can post "no guns" but it has zero force of law. If they want to eject you for trespassing, they have to ask you to leave in the presence of a police officer and the police officer has to hear you persistently refuse to leave when asked to do so.

I don't know why this hasn't gained any traction on this forum, but the single most useful tool I've found for traveling with a concealed handgun is: http://apps.carryconcealed.net/packngo/. Anybody who carries concealed and travels ought to have this one bookmarked. It not only shows you state reciprocities, but it allows you to select multiple states from a map and then gives you useful information about each of those states.

That's true. "No guns" signs can take a variety of forms, and in some cases the meaning might be unclear. For example, the aforementioned sign

may be interpreted as "no semiautomatic pistols allowed." Does that mean I can still carry my little 5-shot revolver?

The sign also isn't clear about to whom it applies. I bet there are some business owners who post "no gun" signs, but if asked, would say that licensed carry is fine with them.

I think you're gettin' warm. Plus, I'm pretty sure that the "gunbusters" sign above specifically forbids Beretta 92 and it's variants.

Kentucky allows carry under a permit from any and all states....LOL. I love me some Kentucky. Not just because it is my home state either.
