Morris Jones, a concealed handgun instructor from Vidor, said he doesn't know if restricting guns in certain places would stop them from being used.
"School shootings and wherever those major mass casualty shootings happen are where guns are prohibited or highly restricted," Jones, 66, said. "(Gunmen) know they're not going to have to worry about people shooting back at them."
On the other hand, Jones said, allowing guns in more places will not necessarily make the world any safer.
Jones, who is also an officer in the Golden Triangle Gun Club blamed an overall violent society and lack of parental control for what is "causing people to do these things they didn't do 50 years ago."
"Guns aren't causing people to shoot people" he said. "There's something else."
In addition to this on the CBS Sunday Show, Ben Stein had a superb commentary that absolved guns as the root cause for the recent shooting episodes. When I heard the subject, I was expecting the worst given that it was CBS.
