I think after the first empty magazine hit the pavement following 9 bikers, and the second magazine was inserted the "Mindless Neanderthal Cowards" would have dispersed....

Unless of course the MNCs also had firearms, in which case, the driver, his wife, and child may not have fared as well as they did. Instead of firing, I would have started doing donuts until everything within 50 feet was flat.

Some ten years ago when we doing a job aboard Camp LeJeune, NC, we would see groups of 50-70 Sunday bikers on the back road to Swansboro and New Bern. We never heard of such chicanery and hooliganism by these southern bikers as was displayed by the yankee bikers in the article. Why is that? :headscratch

The solution is obvious: ban motorcycles and SUV's in New York.

I've been riding motorcycles for 35 years, and suggest that this was quite simply a rolling riot.

If I had been the SUV driver under attack by a mob, "ventilated leather jacket" would have taken on a whole new meaning.

This is what I keep thinking when asking myself what I would really do.

It's just the sad state of our society, the video that is...

Ha! Who wants to die at 107 strapped to a ventilator? My DNR is in place and my family will let me go as they knew me. I am of course in no hurry to speed things up, but a victim i will not be...

It's snowing in Alaska! My daughter is stationed there with her AF husband and enjoying open carry...

wow! c-dub you're a brave man! good luck trying to confront 30 to 40 bikers by yourself with your wife and kids in the car. :tiphat:
The RR driver wasn't trying to confront them. He wasn't going to let them get their way and went around them when they blocked the highway. The rough stuff happened after that because the bikers got upset that he went around them.

As many have said, trying to take on cars with motorcycles doesn't make much sense. I heard on the news last night that the the guy that was run over has two broken legs and may end up a paraplegic.

Here is a follow-up article with a few additional details, including info that the cars tires were also slashed:

Apparently, these NY bikers aren't interested in a lawsuit, but want an excuse to damage vehicles and/or commit assaults. This isn't the first time this has happened.

Police investigation to this point indicated the assault victim was not at fault in an fashion and was not an instigator. He didn't run over anyone until he and his family were threatened and even the NYC PD is supporting the victim's position. Apparently, the victim didn't have the option to avoid anything, he was driving along and found himself surrounded.

Ive read that these gangs single out high end vehicles with a family in them and use the brake check or just roll back into the vehicle to cause a bump then surround the car and demand money. This is highway robbery through fear and intimidation.

maybe this incident will make them think twice?

I also saw on the news last night an interview with the wife of one of the bikers in the hospital "oh, he was trying to help the driver"???? right and she knows this how???? last I heard he's been in a coma since the incident.

I don't think it will make all of them think twice but I bet it makes a lot of them be much further back from the "action" next time. Bravery in numbers, where they can hide the cowardice of the individual.

I don't know if NY has a "no bill" law but I assume that the family will be defending themselves from civil suits for some time. A shame really.

Same group of bikers attacking another vehicle in 2011.

MOD EDIT: LINK REMOVED - Links to LiveLeak not allowed

Numerous videos from before the incident on LiveLeak.

MOD EDIT: LINK REMOVED - Links to LiveLeak not allowed

Notice how they run red lights and have a few bikes blocking the traffic with the green lights, so that other may run the red lights?

There are also some videos on the website somewhere of the guy who is now paralyzed riding his bike/rapping and acting foolish....

If I ever come across a group of bikers acting foolishly, if I safely can, I will be sure to pull in the mirror's and tell the girlfriend to start recording just in case.

Sorry for not embedding. I could not figure out how to. =/

The other thing is, imagine that is your typical sedan. I don't think a car will have been able to ride over the bike. Even if it got started, it might've high-centered & be stuck. So, if you're going to pick a fight with a bunch of bikers, be in a 4x4. ;)
