Lone Star college "guns on campus" open forum

The Houston Lone Star college system is holding a open forum on campus carry on March 31st from 2pm-4pm. The event will be held at the Lone Star Cyfair campus in the college center. To my knowledge it is open to the community for everyone to attend if you desire to. The college has been advertising this event for about 2-4 weeks now so there may be a descent turn out. Seeing as I currently attend this college I would prefer to be able to go, but unfortunately I have a 10 hr class that day. So if any of yall do attend the open forum can you report back on any major points.

I am not exactly sure with that. But I did find out that the kingwood campus is also holding one this monday(3/30/15) from 7-9pm at the scc building. Fortunately I will be able to make that one.

My 21 year-old son is a CHL student at Lone Star. I told him about the event and pending legislation.

No. That is the University Park campus. The CyFair Campus is on Barker Cypress.

The survey they did after the fact had 36% of 671 people in favor of chl holders to carry on campus. 60% did not support campus carry. This survey to my knowledge was for the kingwood campus. I do not know the outcome for the other campuses.Also in their LSCS Trustee meeting a resolution was adopted to permit individual boards of trustees authority to determine whether to permit guns on campus.

I'm not exactly familiar with how lone star campuses are set up. But it sounds like to me it will be up to each individual campus rather then having one policy for every campus.

If the campus carry law passes, LSCS is a state school, and will not be allowed to opt out like private institutions.
