Taking the CHL class again for fun

I've had my CHL for years, and my girlfriend is taking hers this weekend. Her friend that was going with her flaked out, but paid for the class, so I'm going to go for free. Just to get caught up on new laws, and to spend a little time with her. My question...I want to make the shooting test more fun. I regularly switch between carrying an LCP in my back pocket, and a Glock 26 IWB. I train quite a bit with the glock, but not a whole lot with the LCP. I'm considering taking the shooting test one of two ways just to mix things up.

1. Take it with the LCP
2. Take it with the 26, but do it all offhand with my weak hand, the way I practice sometimes in case something happens to my dominant hand.

Do yall think they'll let me shoot it like #2? That's my first choice since it adds a bit of a challenge, but taking it with elsie sounds kinda fun too.

btw, GF is shooting my G19, and she's scored in the 240's each time we've done the drill to prepare for the class.

I would just go to the range and shoot my pistol however I wanted. But hey, it's your time and money.

It's free though, and I do need to get caught up on current laws, etc. I haven't been super observant of law changes, etc as of late, and I know a lot of new stuff has come down the pike. Mail in renewals are a lot more convenient, but they have downsides as well.

There isn't a dominant hand question before the shooting portion. How would they know and as long as you are safe, why would they care?

In my class he checked everyone for which eye was dominant to know how they should be holding their handgun. If they do something like this shooting with the off hand might not go over well.

'The shooting portion is only about profiency in handling the gun, and putting bullets on target. If he shoots weak side, and scores a passing mark, that's all that matters.
And I think it'd be fun to take the course all over again. Kind of like Continuing Education from school.

You could try it blindfolded. One of the employees at the local gun shop was asked how difficult the proficiency part of the class was. His reply was, "You can do it with your eyes closed." He then said he knew because he tried it. I'm guessing he practiced this many times before trying it assuming he wasn't pulling the women's leg. It is fairly easy with your eyes open.

Ask the instructor. Tell him the situation and let him decide. There's no handedness in the law so if you can handle and shoot a handgun safely with your off hand then there shouldn't be a problem. If you're bumbling with it then there should be an issue raised by the instructor. If I was the instructor I'd appreciate the courtesy.

I let current CHLs audit my class for free if I have the room. I appreciate them being there, whether it is for support of family or friend or for continuing ed. I often find they have valuable experience to offer to the class.

I figure that there is always something new for me to learn.

I have also attended Charles Cotton's deadly force seminar four times for the same reason.

Sometimes I even read the TexasCHLforum to learn new stuff.

I couldn't imagine learning anything in a CHL class that you wouldn't already know by browsing this forum a couple times a week. Now I do wish I could attend Mr. Cotton's seminar.

I would attend mainly because I haven't had an opportunity to attend one of his classes. But my assumption would be that the material he would cover for new CHL students would be things that forum members who regularly browse the forum would be very familiar with.
