Great! I think it's important that people realize this isn't just about the students. Where do you teach?HEMIzygote wrote:I will be wearing my empty holster to class. I might raise more of an issue being on the teaching side of the class room, but I read the employee crap and it said nothing about not being able to participate in rallys and marches.
I hope I raise some questions being the fact that none of my lectures seat less than 400 students. I think I will even write a note on the board in the corner stating it and welcome all students to participate aswell.

I grew up in Lubbock and know a few professors at Tech. TTU is definitely a diamond in the West Texas rough.
Seriously, how can guns not be allowed on the campus of a university that has the slogan "Get your guns up?"

Hmm, I'll have to mention it to one of my professors, who I know has a CHL from part of a class discussion.HEMIzygote wrote:I will be wearing my empty holster to class. I've got another one that I suspect might have one, as he once mentioned something being "a tool, like a hammer, a gun, a knife, or a screwdriver" in a discussion. Hell even if he doesn't, his mind is already on the right track...

How could an empty holster appear threatening to anyone? I have some empty holsters lying around and they don't even scare my cat and she is afraid of most anything.Will938 wrote:Did someone have the information for the campus leader at A&M? I was pretty worried about people freaking over a holster, so I was considering just pinning a target to my back. It's non-threatening and paints a bold picture, though I'm not sure people would make the connection.
The protest is about using the empty holster, I'm not sure that the target would be associated with the national protest.

Unfortunately, it's in the eye of the beholder. Especially with the politically correct attitudes of college administrators today.Liberty wrote:How could an empty holster appear threatening to anyone?
You know kids have been thrown out of grade school and high school for wearing NRA shirts and similar activities.

If I was a college student and they tried to trow me out for wearing an empty holster I would toss my cell phone in it and tell them it’s my new cell phone case. Almost makes me want to go back to college and partake in this.seamusTX wrote:You know kids have been thrown out of grade school and high school for wearing NRA shirts and similar activities.

That idea was sent out in a message bulletin on Facebook last week. I am excited and a little weary about this. I am going through with it, but I don't know what the response will be.Wildscar wrote:If I was a college student and they tried to trow me out for wearing an empty holster I would toss my cell phone in it and tell them it’s my new cell phone case. I sent out registered letters to both the Tech Chancellor and the Tech Police. So they have no excuse for surprises.

This is exactly what I did. People were so oblivious that they didn't even notice I was wearing a holster until I pointed it out.Wildscar wrote:If I was a college student and they tried to trow me out for wearing an empty holster I would toss my cell phone in it and tell them it’s my new cell phone case. How is the response going? I have yet to see anyone on the Tech campus carrying a empty holster. I put a note on the board in the room I teach and its erased before I make it back to the room for my next class.freakinout wrote:I'm the campus leader at TTU, the university has done more to give us publicity than anybody else. You can see stuff on Fox 34 today, at 4 & 9, AM 1420, and later on Pratt on Texas on AM 790 at about 5:20 or so
I searched Fox34 and couldn't find anything. But a quick search on YouTube found these:
