Thanks for posting the link garcia946. :tiphat:

It's good to know who will be sponsoring the campus carry bill in the next legislative session. Driver did a good job of correcting the news guy about how the bill in the last session DID make it through committee(but it died on the floor of the House). I wish he could have squeezed in a little more info about WHY and HOW it died there. :???:

I wonder if Rep.Driver is a forum member? ;-) He's a good guy.

Looking at the numbers Fox posted for 2009 CHLs per zip code, people would have to be stupid to fight/rob/burglarize anyone in my small population city, a good percentage, about 5% got licenses in 2009, the total population includes a group of about 2/3rds of the people which are too young, so quite a few adults in my city are licensed.

Is that all issued licenses or just last year's? If the former, we have a substantive number of CHLs in our zip and if the latter, we must have a huge percentage.

period is listed at the top of that document.
that's just last year's licenses that were issued, not cumulative total of all licensees over the years.

:iagree: DPS only issues demographics for CHL licenses issued for that particular year.....not total demographics.

The DO however give total number of active licensees issues. For regular licensees, and then for CHL instructors....

You have to add the 2 numbers together to come up with the total active CHL licenses in Texas in effect. Strange, I know. But that's the way it is. :headscratch

I'm not saying this disproves your claim. After all, a sample size of "1" isn't a statistic, unless you work for The Brady Campaign "rlol"

Concealed carry wouldn't help that guy at all. He wasn't alert when he was open carrying. There's no reason to believe he'll be more alert when his gun is concealed. What's passingly odd is that he'd already been robbed at knifepoint when he decided to carry to protect himself. You'd think he'd be more alert than most, having already been robbed once.
