Maybe, maybe not. My hubby has done a great job teaching me and giving me pointers. We also work very well together in general. So to me it comes down to the individuals involved and how well they interact.

Wow. Hadn't heard of this site before. Way cool. Thanks for the heads up. Some good pointers in there. Including methods to address weak hand issues, but lots of other good info, too.

A smaller gun is not the answer to her problems. As a matter of fact, for many of them its the direct opposite since most have a much more stiff recoil spring than their larger counterparts.

If she is determined enough, a little weight conditioning will go a long way.

Then I would teach her to hold the slide in place and push the grip forward to rack the slide. I have had a lot of success teaching women this method.

If this does not work I think I would have her go with a wheelgun.

Finally, if auto is a must, I would go to Glockmiester and get one of their variable spring kits for a Glock. As I recall, these kits have recoil springs from about 14 lbs and up. I would then work up a load that functioned 100% with the weakest possible spring in the kit. However, I do not recommend altering a gun in this manner and using it as a carry piece.

Instructors have a great deal of latitude in method and style while keeping the curriculum outlined by the state. For example, I have severe arthritis in my hands and have had several broken thumbs and fingers. Can't make a fist with the right hand because fingers turn back instead of forming a ball.
As a result I cannot load a clip without using a MagLula. In fact, we had a little fun contest after the qualification and I could load 10 rounds in a brand new Smith & Wesson clip faster than any of the guys pushing shells in one at a time by hand. Woman next to me on the line smoked everybody.. she can make that Glock loader fly.
We all had to start with an empty gun and empty clip in front of us then on command load and fire each group. Made it easy after the first 5 rounds because the slide stays open. Drop the clip to inspect for empty, then step back from the line to wait for the next reload sequence.
Don't know if this is the method used by all or most instructors but it would seem to be a good way to see if any of the applicants were unsure or sloppy in their gun handling. Just guessing, but putting a round through the bench or your foot might be a disqualifier. posting.php?mode=reply&f=7&t=41687&sid= ... b54efbf19f#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
