I would love to carry openly. It would make life so much easier. However, I think it would cause more problems than it would solve. I'm with the "out of sight, out of mind" crowd. I think most people would freak out to see a gun. Especially down in Austin :)

HOWEVER, I do believe that Texas is the best state in this country. And the fact that so many other states allow open carry bugs me. So I have signed the petition.

Like many others not sure if I myself will ever open carry, but as a law student I firmly believe that is the individuals right to carry, hopefully after the Supreme Courts ruleing we will help push this into action.
In the year 2008 the Supreme Court reaffirms many peoples faith in the Constitution, while others want to vote in a man who will destroy the 2nd Ammendment.

Admittedly, this would be one of the additional benefits. "rlol"

This is part of the political enlightment and consciousness raising that needs to be opened up -- right now most people probably don't even know they can carry a firearm legally.

This is the main reason that I personally would do this -- It needs doing. We really need the sheep to pull the wool off their eyes.

It is time to un-demonize the firearm and that isn't going to happen with them all hidden.

:iagree: I also participate over on the OpenCarry.org forums, and people over there in states where it is legal but uncommon have reported very similar transitions; the sheeple are raising less of a ruckus when they see an OCer, and the police are more educated about carry laws and thus less likely to try to intimidate the carrier with arrest or citation for disorderly conduct etc. (Look up Grieve v State in the Texas 5th circuit Court of Appeals; the court basically said that a report to police of a weapon is not, by itself, reasonable suspicion of disorderly conduct). Sheeple can get used to anything; that's why government has gained so much power.

Wanna bet!

Me and my wife personally fought for KLOL 101.1 here in Houston, we got over 50k signatures...fortunately and unfortunately another HUGE conglomerate got the original cast together and made KIOL, only to turn it into a JACK station!

Alas the end result we lost..but we fought the good fight and made a TON of friends along the way

online petitions make huge waves if enough people fight for it...heck even if one person fights hard enough they can make a difference!

Don't ever underestimate the power or strength of people fighting for what they believe in.

I would whole heartedly support it if it was an addition to instead of a replacement for CHL...I fear if it was OK'd, it would be just another tool that the anti's could twist into taking away a right for the replacement of another.

I signed..but I sure hope that its another unlocking of a legislated down freedom instead of a replacement for another
