Was there for the event. ~150 or so folks in addition to a number of the legislators involved in these bills. La Pierre from NRA was seated at the head table with the Governor, Lt Governor and House Speaker. After signing, Abbott took a few questions from the press. First question was to the effect of....Are you doing this in San Antonio instead of in Austin due to the "Mass Murder" in Austin last week. Abbott had already stated that he was signing at the Alamo because it was the cradle of Texas Liberty and these bills were about expanding liberty. There was a bit of booing from the audience, but the Governor quickly retorted with something to the effect of You are obviously not from around here. The boos changed to laughter. Abbott then continued to again explain the significance of a signing at the Alamo and added that he had met with the family of the one individual who died from that event. The family told him that this was a criminal act done by criminals and the family did not want their loved one's death to be used to try and take away freedoms.

Just had a chance to look at the KXAN link and they covered the Q&A point much better than I did. Surprised that the MSM would include the piece where Gov Abbott took the reporter down
