Last night some scum backed under my carport CONNECTED to my house, cut the pad lock off the chain, hooked up to my welding machine trailer and drove it off!!!!!!! I found it gone when I woke up this morning. Motion sensing lights under the carport, big dogs in the back yard and I heard nothing or saw nothing. I'm so mad now I can hardly stand still. $10,000.00 PLUS worth of Welder , trailer and tools GONE!!!!!!! I FANTASIZE about catching them in the act and what I would do to them. What would you do???? Hold them for the police or blow their worthless, sorry guts out where they can NEVER steal a honest working mans tools again?????? I'm upset right now and there is not a doubt in my mind what I would do if given a chance. :fire :fire :fire :fire

If that was the only way I could have prevented them from stealing my property.....psyonara (or however it's spelled) scumbag! And you would be within the law.

It's good that Texas still recognizes that Property = Life. Property is the fruit of your labor and is part of your life's work. If somebody robs that from you they are taking a portion of your life.

If I caught them in the act I would still have my tools. Their condition would be up to them.

You could hire Joe Horn. We know for a fact he'll shoot! ;-)

Sorry to hear about your equipment. Will homeowners insurance cover it if not found by the police?

I bet Joe Horn spends more than $10k to defend himself.

But I wish I was as hard as some of you guys.

One positive side to the media coverage is that Mr. Horn now has a legal defense fund set up. Hopefully, Mr. Horn will not have to personally pay for this.

As for someone stealing your tools, that's your livelihood (sp?). I hope your deductible isn't too high.

I can't find it now, but I thought I read that the lawyer was doing this for no charge right now. Darned if I can find where I read it though. :???:

While I usually frown at shooting someone just for stealing property, when it comes to work tools, I'd probably be more likely to take deadly action if it meant my livelyhood. (instead of things like my stereo, etc)

Here's the problem I have with automatically dismissing someone shooting a burglar.

If I catch the guy in my house, and I have no idea what his intensions are, he'll probably end up getting shot. I'm not going to risk the fact that he might be there to do more than just rob me.

Now if I catch him going out the door, the most i'd do is possibly draw to get him to stop and hopefully wait for the cops to get there. If he runs, he gets away.

I am definately not going to hunt someone down to retaliate for a burglary. That's criminal behavior.
