93.3 the Bone anti-gun?

#1

Post by Jason73 »

This morning I was listening to the Cindy and Robert show on 93.3 the Bone. The were discussing the school shooting in Ill, and made some anti-gun comments that really made me angry. Those of you in the Dallas Ft Worth area that listen to this station I ask you to email them as well and let them know this type of anti-gun rhetoric is not well received. The following is an email I sent to them:

cindy@933thebone.com

Cindy,

During your show this morning you stated that Mr. Kazmierczak purchased his guns online. That is absolutely incorrect. He purchased a Remington shotgun and a Glock 9mm handgun on Feb 8 2008, a High Point .380 pistol on Dec. 30 2007 and a Sig Sauer 9mm pistol on Aug. 6 2007, all from a Champaign Ill gun shop. All purchases were made in person and in accordance with federal law which includes a mandatory background check.

It is illegal to directly purchase firearms online. All firearms purchased online are shipped to a local FFL (Federal Firearms Licensee) who then transfers the weapon to the purchaser only after an ATF form 4473 has been filled out and a background check has been conducted thru the NICS (national instant check system). ATF form 4473 line 12f asks the applicant "Have you ever been adjudicated mentally defective (which includes having been adjudicated incompetent to manage your own affairs) or have you ever been committed to a mental institution?"

The items he purchased online were two empty 9 mm Glock magazines and a Glock holster, both items are perfectly legal to purchase online.

The comments made on your show this morning had no basis in factual information and it was irresponsible for you to make the statements without first getting the facts straight. I don't know if this was done intentionally because you are anti-gun and have an agenda to push or if it was done out of ignorance. Either way at least one person in your audience is now of the opinion that guns are to blame for the shootings and is probably thinking we need more anti-gun laws.

During your anti-gun rantings you failed to point out that the shootings took place in a "Gun-free school zone" and that it was a violation of university policy, as well as state and federal law for Mr. Kazmierczak to have the guns on campus. That piece of information seems to be mostly ignored by the media, yourself included. The criminal ignored the law, the law abiding citizens followed it, and as a result innocent law abiding citizens were defenseless against a lunatic. This is always the case with anti-gun laws, they do absolutely nothing to prevent criminals from killing innocent people.

The damaged caused by your broadcast will not be readily apparent, but law abiding citizens such as myself who enjoy our constitutional right to keep and bear arms will be impacted negatively by it, likely in the form of more anti-gun sentiment. Please get your facts straight in the future before commenting on tragedies such as this.

Well written. I don't usually listen to the Bone, but I may just send them a letter as well

Great job Jason.
I would like to encourage all of you that are going to respond to the antis commentary to please include the fact that Ill. is very antigun, and has some of the more strict gun laws on the books today. It is clearly a case of gun control not working. Before Kazmierczak was allowed to purchase those weapons he also had to obtain a FIOD card. I have heard that most gun stores will not even talk with or demonstrate a firearm in Ill. without first seeing a state issued FIOD.

Then, he was crazy ... and capable of pre-meditated murder? Something doesn't add up.

IMHO.

It's funny, something rather similar happened to me recently. Ya'll remember that goon that was going to shoot up the SuperBowl?
Well, The Jagger Show (105.3 Free FM) was talking about his assault rifle and this and that. so I called in, corrected the guy on what an assault rifle is, and went on to say, "You know, it's funny he picked the SuperBowl, and gun-free, victim-rich environment" to which I was promptly hung up on.
About what I'd expect from the Jagger show.

Now, Russ Martin. he's cool.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.
