That seems to be a huge secret. How do the folks North of Corpus Christi not know what is going on?
It amazes me almost daily that folks in Houston keep saying, "They're just hardworking folks here to do jobs we won't do." It's a lie. Some are. Most are not. Many of those that are not, hate us and come here to scam us in any way possible. They laugh at us, because we hand them money. I know. I grew up among them. They were my friends and some are now my relatives. I love the Mexican people and the culture ... the good things about Mexico. The government is rife with fraud and crime, and it filters down through the education system, what there is of that. They keep the populace as ignorant as possible, so as to be able to whip them up into a frenzy and control them. Mexicans are not stupid people. They are very, very bright ... most that I know, anyway. The Mexican government has just been criminally negligent in their proper education. So, many believe that they must resort to criminal behavior in order to survive. Then, they come here to escape punishment for their crimes and bring those taught (by the gov't.)/learned behavior traits with them.
Folks need to wake up and realize that the humble peasant mowing their backyard could be a rapist, murderer, robber, coyote, kidnapper, childnapper, or worse, and he is most likely carrying a gun and certainly carrying a knife. In his culture all men and boys learn to carry and use a knife for defense or offense. When I was a child, it was not unusual for women and young girls to just disappear. In fact, when Mr. XXX's wife disappeared, we didn't think he killed her. We thought she'd been kidnapped and taken to Mexico. That was the first thought that anyone had. We found out that it was true, when she managed to escape 5 years later and return to our town. Coyotes have always made a profit from transporting people across the border ... both ways!
That seems to be the hardest thing for folks here to understand.
According to our church's Missions Board, with the current surge in drug trade, the manufacturers in the hills of Mexico are having a difficult time getting enough children to harvest their cocaine fields and work in their factories. They have "used" them all up. A child doesn't last more than a few weeks in a cocaine factory, as the toxic chemicals and lack of proper protection kills them. So, they have sent coyotes to Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Corpus, etc., to get more "workers." This has been going on for as long as I can remember. The coyotes blend into the landscaping industry and, when they collect enough kids, they take them, plus a woman that they have kidnapped to be the "nanny," back to the interior of Mexico. Much of this is ignored or outright facilitated by the Mexican government, as it benefits from the drug trade.
The saddest part of the illegal problem is what it is doing to mountain villages. Most mountain villages are without men of working age to protect the people. The only adult males left there are elderly or infirm. 1.5 million women (plus all their children) have been abandoned by the men in their families. These women and children receive NO
money from their men in the US. In fact, many of those men marry US citizens, so that they can escape the poverty in which they left their families. This is the part that breaks my heart: Those women and children become prey to the Mexican militia and drug dealers. The drug dealers steal children about 8 - 10 years, sometimes 6 years old, and take them to the factories and fields, basically to die. The Militia steals little girls and pretty women for the sex trade. That is the pain and suffering caused by the greed of these men, who come here for the US dollars. When we hire a lawn man, this is the pain that we are causing in Mexico, and it breaks my heart. I believe that, if we didn't hire them, they would go home to their families. That has been proven. Then, they can work to come back to the US, with their families, the legal way. Many have done it.
People in the US need to wake up and realize that Mexico is a Communist led country. Why is that so difficult for us to accept? We were taught that, when I was in Jr. High ... way too many years ago. Things are harsh there, and the folks that escape and come here, bring those Communist ideals and ways of living to the US. Though I love much of the Mexican culture and so many Mexican people, I cannot see allowing their government to exert so much influence and power over the US citizens, as it does right now.
