Re: Alright Thanks.
There are a lot of 'gunbuster' signs and 'No Firearms' signs posted on various businesses that do not meet 30.06 requirements. Those do not pertain to CHL holders and are totally ignored (probably be ANYONE carrying a gun, legal or not!)Briankey wrote:Thanks Sir. And PLEASE don't draw their attention to the fact that their sign is not PC30.06 compliant . . . they may post one that is!

Re: Fry's Electronics
Probably not. The gunbuster sign has been posted on the West Rd/I-45 store since it opened.
I've never seen any kind of sign on the Nasa Rd 1/I-45 store.
Depending on when the store at West Rd. was opened, the sign could have been valid in 1996 and part of 1997.

It's legal for them to post the sign.Briankey wrote:I suppose that's not Legal?
NO WAY
Absolutely Not, I would never ever bring something like this to any Businesses attention, I thoroughly enjoy the right to carry as much as anyone else. So don't worry about that sir......

I have seen the one on west/45. It is simply vinyl lettering on the window. I figured it wasn't legal though.

Re: Fry's Electronics
A business can legally post pretty much any sign on the door it wants to. If it is not the statutory 30.06 sign, then it does not apply to CHL holders.

Re: Fry's Electronics
Would it then apply to anyone? You can't carry openly, and you can't carry concealed without a CHL. I don't know where retired/off-duty police and military stand; they don't carry under authority of Texas concealed-carry laws, so they don't even have to obey 30.06 signs AFAIK, but do they have to respect any other No Guns sign? It also seems odd that a gunbusters sign would apply to armed security like Brinks or Loomis, but not to CHLs.bdickens wrote:A business can legally post pretty much any sign on the door it wants to. Re: Fry's Electronics
I think what is being implied is that anyone can legally post any sign they want on their door as long as that sign doesn't break a law. A gun buster sign doesn't break any laws, so they can legally post it.Liko81 wrote:Would it then apply to anyone? You can't carry openly, and you can't carry concealed without a CHL. As far as it being legally binding for anyone not carrying, no. Since Texas has no open carry, and it doesn't prohibit CHL's, then the sign is legal, but not legally binding. IANAL, but I really don't think it is legally binding for anyone carrying legally in the method they are allowed to. It would take verbal or proper written notification to prohibit carry on their premises IIRC.

Re: Fry's Electronics
Just a thought on verbal notice. Would it be considered verbal notice if anyone such as a cashier, stock boy, or other such employee told you they didn't allow guns? Could they be telling you something that's in the employee handbook meant for employees, not customers? Would it have to come from a manager type who should be more knowledgeable in the rules/policies of the store, or could any regular Joe tell you and it be binding? Just a Devil's Advocate question. I've carried past many non-compliant signs, and kept it concealed. Like some of you guys say, "Concealed is concealed". I have no intention personally of asking anyone anyway. If they're signs are non-compliant, I don't want to cause them to put up proper ones!

Re: Fry's Electronics
I think they're great! Those signs might apply to concealed carry permit holders in other states, but in the great State of Texas they mean nothing to us. Since many companies are headquartered in states where these signs mean something, they think they're telling US to keep our weapons out.
In addition, since carrying without a CHL is illegal in Texas anyway, those signs are double worthless as they're stating something that equally applies outside of their premise to begin with, unless you carry a long gun under your coat. About the only value they might have is to make naive customers fell safer.............nah. It's ignorance that's fun to watch for a change.
So, let them put up all the ghostbusters signs they want...................sshhhhhh......
