Did I goof up?

Took my CHL class on Saturday and got all paperwork signed and notorized. Instructor warned us of the longer than usual wait times, which got me a little nervous. I spend all day Saturday and Sunday doing some research, on this site and others, and read that people who submitted their application online seemed to have gotten their license faster. So, off I go to DPS page, and proceed to submit an application, and paid for it. Since I was in the system, I was going to send in my existing paperwork on Monday.
Then I happen to read on one site, that the paperwork you are sent from applying online is different from the paperwork that you get when you take the class. This made me nervous, so on Monday, I called the CHL Office in Austin. I was told that the only difference was when take a class, you get a yellow form in your packet where you have to enter in all of your personal details. When you apply online, you get a white form that has all of your details already printed. Because of that I could not send in my existing paperwork and would have to wait for my packet from Austin to arrive. They mail those packets every Thursday, and she said they always say it takes up to 2 weeks, but she thought I would get it in a week. So worst case, I'm thinking I've only delayed myself a week or so.
My only concern is the TR-100. When I completed the class, I was given a TR-100 that had a serial number on it. When Austin sends me my application packet, I'm assuming they will provide a new TR-100 in it. I asked the lady on the phone if I could send in my existing TR-100 (that I got in my CHL class) in place of the TR-100 that Austin is sending. She asked her manager and they said that it would be fine.
Even still, I'm a bit nervous that this may cost me an extra month. I'm thinking I may just track down my CHL instructor and have him sign the new TR-100 form from Austin just to be safe.
Anyway, long story short, how bad did I goof up? I was trying to get an edge by going the online route (after the fact), but it may have cost me more time. Anyone else done a bone headed mistake like this?
p.s. I LOVE this forum. I think I spent 5 hours straight reading posts. As a side effect, the holster I was thinking about buying will no longer cut the mustard. You guys have convinced me to go the custom route!!
